So long story, set my completed salifert test kits on my aquarium after I did a water change, mag, alk, and calc.... as I turned to grab them my gf opened the front door dog bolted between my legs and I spilled all three test kits into the tank. I do not have any salt water fot a water change but im making more rodi water as we speak, tank is 125 gallons plus 30 in the sump. I'm currently running carbon in a reactor....am I doomed?!

What are you going to do with more RODI water but no salt?

You really need to get some salt so you can do a water change. Absent that, I'd just run some carbon and maybe a polyfilter, though I'm not sure what's in the test kit solutions and if it will help at all or not.

Well I need to make rodi water to be able to have water? Lol I'm not going to use my terrible tap water for a water change i have 3 buckets of tropic marin.

Oops I misread. You wrote "no salt water" for water change, I read "no salt" for water change. My bad!

You think rwreef? I'm hoping so.... I'm just worried long term. I only make 2gph of rodi so to fill my brute trash can to do a water change its roughly 50 gallons.

Its ok lol
Naw, large volume of water it should be fine. Just run the carbon and water change if you want.

Agree with above. Anyone you know have a tank or a LFS that is close to get water? I would do a hefty WC and run carbon.

Not really my lfs doesn't open till noon. And they don't carry pre mix salt water, they do have rodi water at 2 bucks a gallon...

Well if it will be ok for 24 hours till I can do tbe larger water change tomorrow? Roughly 50 gallons. So 33% change?

I feel like such an idiot.....

Which items exactly did you drop in? The large bottles? There's a couple things going on in there but iirc the main ingredient in the large bottles for the Calc and Mag test is sodium hydroxide, so you really just supplemented alk and removed some Co2, check your ph and make sure it isn't at a dangerous level from this. If it is, I'd aerate aggressively.

With the alk test, this is usually just an acid like a slightly diluted sulfuric acid. Conveniently enough this should be somewhat or even entirely offset by your calc and mag reagents, but again, check pH.

If the water is red just add enough of reagent 3 til it turns clear again. :p Sounds like you'll be okay.

At those small 5ml volumes (and 5-10 drops each at .5 ml) a 5-10% water change isn't going to result in much change in concentration. Doubt it's a serious concern - if you're running GAC (or similar) I'd just monitor if it's good tomorrow chalk it up to a learning experience.

when you test you are neutralizing the component you are testing for. with the small amounts involved i would wonder what the contaminants are that you fear were introduced into your tank?

Just ybe completed kits, didn't dump like the whole powder or liquids. Just the 2-4ml of tank water completed vials.
