Thanks man and I hear ya! Since this was temporary I decided to put them side by side but hopefully far enough in between. I'll be careful! May actually put a divider in there.

I left the pvc the same way in both tanks for less stress when I move the fish over.

Prop a piece of poster board or plywood between them. I would worry more about aeresol with the side by side arrangemnt than the stacked one.

Actually, they're supposed to be at least 10 feet apart if I remember correctly to avoid aerosol transmission. @Humblefish and @melypr1985 am I right?

Man! I'm sorry.. Half of what I do here is throwing a wrench in somebody's plans... or delivering bad news. The good news is that all your fish look very healthy to me so far!

You can try and minimize air movement flowing from the QT to another QT or the display. It's not foolproof, but it's something.

If you only set up the new tanks just before transferring them it should help. Like keep the tank there but only fill it right before you put the fish in, and store the water 10ft away.

Ok, difference between TTM and QT? just curious.

TTM is that you transfer your fish every 5 days or so, only works for Ick and speed the process up vs QT with 50%.
QT they stay in the same tank for 80 days, and treat them for worms, parasites etc etc.

Yup it is just another method among methods of quarantining. But definitely no more than 72 hours between transfers.

Rev a couple things... Just use a lid on the tank with the fish to keep them from jumping and minimize aerosol transfer. Keep the unused tank empty until it is time to move the fish. Use water from your new tank that should be disease free for the 20g, and add the fresh made Saltwater to your main tank instead. It's like doing a series of water changes every time you need to qt new fish.

Also, forgo using a net, use a clear plastic deli container or one of those acrylic containers your fish store uses to bag the fish. You'll find its much easier and can just be cleaned with the rest of the items. Just corner them and trap them against glass, slide it up, and done. I actually use my hands now for most fish instead of anything.

As for cleaning, once fish are removed, i just dump a little bleach in and let it mix for a few 10 minutes. Then siphon out, rinse and dry everything including the tank lid. Simple simple. Don't worry about the bleach it dissipates fastly after drying.
