Here's a fun one - Pronunciations . . . .

These are likely mostly wrong but it’s the way I say them/heard them.

Tunze = Tunes
Sicce = cease
Cheato = chay toe
Micromussa = Acan
Montipora = Mon tip ora
Acropora = Ackro pora (I know it’s wrong but I don’t say Acro as a cruh I say it as Ack ro)
Poccillopora = Poe sill o pora
Vermetid = Verr meh tid
Berghia Nudibranch = Berge ia Nudi (forget saying branch or brunk or whatever)
Halide = Hal ide
Noopsyche = Noop Psy key
Tenius = Teeny us
Trochus = Troke us
Geisemann = Guys men

If you pronounce it conch in the Keys, The Conch Republic, you'll upset the natives. LOL.
or in the Bahamas. I always thought it was Kona, then my LFS pronounced it Kahn-ch. So had to look it up and it goes both ways. Probably depends on if you're English or English :zany-face:

I'm never sure I'm saying cnidarians correctly...

Lol, I drive a Porsche. If I'm talking to a snooty fan-boy of the brand I have to remind myself to say Porsha. To everyone else I say Porsh.
Those that want one it's a porsh, those that own one it's a porsha.

Spionid worms?
I have no idea how to say it.
So glad we type and not speak into this sight. Nobody would no what I'm taking about!

Those that want one it's a porsh, those that own one it's a porsha.
And those who drive one in a small pick-up truck laden town, and don't want a knuckle sandwich for lunch, learn to tell the difference real quick...

What is the correct way to say ritteri?

"Lepta-strea" or "Lept-astrea"?
I would say it's "Lept-astrea" because it comes from the roots "leptos" and "aster", the leptAstrea being part of the second root.
Ive always known it as Lept-astrea

If this Hobby isn't confusing enough, there are an abundance of titles and names that are often confusing as to how they are pronounced. Some are:

Sicce - Sea-chay - we often hear Sice
Tunze - Tune - zee - we often hear Tons
Chaeto - Kato - we often hear cheeto
Noopsyche - Noop-sh= We here many variations such as Noop-sike

What are some you have seen or mis-pronounced (dont be bashful) ?
Here’s a new one for Chaeto - Ch-A-To.

And even better… Scientific names.
Specifically Macropharyngodon.

I pronounce that as “Macro-Faryng-odon” the “yngo” part is almost silent when I say it quickly.

I wanna try my hand at a pico reef soon. Waiting for a day to patiently put together the Tenecor pie-ko that dropped a few weeks ago.

I said pick-oh for the longest :D
