My wife baked cheescake for 2.5 hours in our gas range. Look what the ph dropped to at night! 7.66! Not good for coral growth. By the way the alkalinity stayed the same at 7.8 dkh. Co2 in the house from breathing and especially gas ranges, will drop your ph like a rock. Time to buy an electric range lol

Are you sure it was the gas range and not a coincidence? Your minimum has already hit 7.61 before that.

Yes, its the gas range. Every ultra low ph event the gas range was on. She doesnt like the sound of the vent fan when she cooks. Unfortunately in Canada the temperature is too cold most of the year to open the windows.
 
When gas burns it uses oxygen up around it as in the fire triangle diagram we get taught needs ignition source,a fuel,and oxygen,its reason why when you install a gas fire over certain kW you need a air brick for ventilation in that room as flue gases rise up chimney and can draw in fresh air through the air brick in that room replenishing the air/ oxygen etc .
I live in England at momemt and as your wife doesn't like using the fan on your range,my mrs doesn't like or understand why I want window open just a little at night in living room,keep explaining over and over but often look the window and it's shut lol but it is November and is chilly so I get it ^_^

Try installing a remote fan in the attic. Run the ductwork to the attic to a remote blower and from that to a vent on the roof. That's the way our 2 story house is done and the oven vent is very quiet that way.
 
Fire uses oxygen which is why the PH drops. Open a window near the tank when the gas range is on and the problem should be solved.

So it’s pulling oxygen to burn. Does this increase CO2 in the tank/air?

I've noticed similar drops because I spend significant time in the room where my tank is (home office.) I just purchased a Co2 scrubber for like 40 bucks and I'm going to give that a try.

In reef tanks, surface agitation helps release gas, but it also takes in gases from the surrounding environment. That’s why opening a window works - because you’re letting in fresh air with a higher O2 concentration instead of recirculating air with high CO2.
 
When fire burns it releases lots of co2 as far as I know. And co2 lowers ph. Ive since installed a fresh air line to my skimmer. So far so good.

Lol. Low oxygen doesn’t make a low pH tank, high CO2 does.

Note how much oxygen is in the atmosphere and how little there is of everything else. This includes CO2 which constitutes .04% of total volume.
 
Indeed but lowered oxygen doesn't affect PH. The by product of the burned gas (CO2) however does raise PH.

Something helpful to know:
You may wanna edit “raise” to “lower” :)

Yeah I was more going along the lines of if the gas burning on stove using up more and more oxygen and no good ventilation then combined with people in house using oxygen and breathing out co2 then when gas exchange happened at surface of water or skimmer then could potentially be not enough oxygen in air and co2 out of aquarium and oxygen going in kind of thing then this could affect ph ,this is correct what I'm thinking or am I way off ?
I'm trained gas engineer and can fix gas appliances but ph of aquariums I'm OK and I know gas exchange happens at surface and nature tries to make equilibrium but if there's more co2 in room than aquarium then could be adding co2 to tank rather than what we want to happen of removing co2 and adding oxygen when gas exchange happens.
Not sure if how I wrote this makes sense but it does in my head ha ha but yeah c02 produced when gas is burnt
