Hermits in the coral..

Word of warning... if the LFS that you are buying coral from has bubble algae it is only a matter of time before you will have it also if you are not very careful.
Outside of my initial stock I’ve only purchased from divers den...because of this. The Duncan I got today was on a separate water supply. And nothing against any LFS. But I was slightly offended the same bubble Hubbles were still present and shrugged off.

I get it. But. That’s a display tank with corals listed up to 100$ or so. Why let the that fester ? Anyways. Yea. A sour taste in my mouth that a newbie like me is spotting serious issues that could easily be rectified by a full staff

That’s my fear. First day with Duncan. And a few weeks ago clowns added. I upped the food considerably. A good bit of uneaten mysis pulled off sand bed during water change. Guess I just need to find homeostasis and keep an eye on them.
Assuming if it’s re-occurring my best choice is return to LFS and stack more on snails ? I do have cleaner shrimp inbound.
Duncan's are incrediblely picky and difficult to keep alive... They are the 1st to tell you of your water quality isn't perfect lol! I've had my scarlet Halloween crabs climb all over it. Only issue I had was low magnesium he didn't look happy got it up to 1480ppm been in full bloom since!

I have a handful o hermits and its a love hate relationship for sure. I wish there was another option but.... my trick is putting my couple more "fragile" corals in spots they cant get. Ive got 1 natural looking rock magnetic frag rack i use to keep those corals "floating" up on the glass where the crabs cant climb.
