Hey! First marine tank. IM SR-80 build.

Just getting started. After waiting 2 months for a Waterbox 65.4 AIO, we cancelled after finally being told they had no build times yet. Went to Innovative Marine and ordered an in stock SR-80. Arrived 7 days later. Unboxed it today and have it leak testing overnight. Really looking forward to sharing our build and experiencing the community here.

Pretty settled on the rock scape. Several arches, varied depth and plenty of hiding vs. open spaces.

I was lucky and was able to use the refund from Waterbox towards this. Plus we had already purchased a lot of the equipment which could still be used for this tank.

I like the all in ones even though I know you have more space with a sump. Right now I have two tanks so I’m waiting until I find a used one cause this hobby is so expensive haha

Minor update:

Tank passed leak test and pumps rans quietly. Does anyone have a way of clearing the air in the drop between chamber 2 and the pump chamber on the AIO? It comes and goes, but sounds like a wave crashing on the shore when it does it.

Also, during stand assembly, discovered that we were short two cross members. Contacted IM and Omar took great care of us, sending them out UPS. Just sucks that I have to wait until they arrive to finish assembling the stand. But it looks solid otherwise.

After talking with others and confirming with IM, moved two braces to the top section and spread three across the bottom. Added a sheet of 1/2” floor board for extra support then laid the black plastic on top of it.

Installed the tank and rock. Now for sand and water. Should be cycling by this evening. Has anyone had an AIO that kept gurgling because of air trapped between the second and pump chambers?

Minor complication. Filled with water and found out the floor was not likely to support the weight long term. A little bounce when you walked by the tank.

Proceeded to drain the tank and found a more stable location. Refill tomorrow and the cycling begins.

Got it emptied, moved and refilled. Ready to cycle. What is everyone’s preference for it? Fish in or fish out? BRS video sounded like a lot of people do fish in.

Looking good! I normally do fishless with a couple of bottles of Bio-Spira and a shrimp from the fridge for ammonia source. Live sand and live rock too
