I have two Current lights, but they're 432 watts; so I don't hate Current. I've even been considering getting one of those lights, but for a shrimp breeding tank where high light isn't necessary. I think they're pretty cool. They have one that even does thunderstorms. Anemones require intense light. I feel for you. It is deceptive advertising and they should be called on it. Notice in all the ads they never mention par level or the strength of the LED's. Makes me mad. I hate telling people, there's been several.

Don't feel bad I did the same thing about 6 months ago thinking I bought a good LED coming over from fresh water. All I did was spend more money. There are a bunch of different T5 lights out there. The budget will probably have a big impact on what you get. You definitely don't want to skimp on lights and flow. That doesn't mean you have to get top of the line though either. There are some people with tons of experience on here that will probably have sound experience with t5 lighting. Keep an eye out in the dry goods for sale section of R2R and you might see something. You could also post a wanted to buy add. I found a guy local to me a month or so ago that needed some equipment. So it worked out for both of us.

Here is a VERY NICE light for the money. Unbelievably inexpensive. Just one bulb on this light is more par than your light. Probably cost less than what you have now.

If you paid that much you probably got it at an unscrupulous LFS and got double screwed.

IDK about your LFS, but mine will consign some items. You might try them, that is if they don't sell the Current in their store...

Do you have a test kit for alkalinity, calcium, magnesium? Do you have a way to test for specific gravity?

I hate to drop another bomb on you, but canister filters are for fresh water. You can use them for saltwater, but it will require frequent maintenance.

Deep sand bed means 4"-6". My tank has a 4" sandbed and live rock for nutrient filtration. I also use a hang on back filter to remove particulates. The hang on back filter has no effect on removing organics whatsoever.

Yes it does get expensive!

This is my 29g. The setup (without livestock) cost around $500. That's for tank, stand, powerhead, lights, sand, heater, hob filter and live rock.

This is my 40.... Much more expensive setup....

I've got a few dollars in mine, it's not a cheap hobby. Got a smaller tank in my office and a shrimp breeding setup, too. Right now I'm tearing down the tank on the left, it's ten years old, and a 180 is going in that wall behind it. Also filling up a 30 gal. frag tank now. The photo is dated. I could take a picture of the whole thing, sump and all the trimmings for you tomorrow if you want.

Get yourself an AI hydra, tank fully cycled? And start off with patience. I know from experience when you rush it things will die. Test params frequently use Ro/DI water and weekly water changes to start.
