When I first read your introduction I thought you were referring to the length of the fish - a 5 foot Midas cichlid!!! o_O They are invasive here in Florida waters and I have kept them as well and have never seen one much over 1 foot long.

Now a 5 ft midas would be a scary fish indeed. My guy is probably 13/14 inches bought him as a 2 inch juvenile 2.5 years ago. I have seen footage on them being invasive in Florida some people have no thought for the natural environment when they release these fish into the wild.
 
Thanks for all the kind welcoming messages. A tank thread is planned just need a new sd card for the camera to take some decent pics. The tank was started up in January so it is still bedding in.
