I’ve had a 29gal fowlr for about 6 years. Have two clowns (my first two saltwater fish and been going strong) and one six line. Use to have an bta but lost it. Joined cause I was thinking of upping my game. But now have been battle cyno. Do have a quick question. On my Red Sea nitrate pro I’ve been having trouble reading the color it’s very faint if pink at all on the diluted solution and regular. I’m thinking their just really low cause my po4 is around .02. But just wondering if anyone else experinced that with Red Sea. Oh and just switched to Red Sea from api so new to this test.

Welcome to R2R!!! I also use Red Sea for nitrates, if it's that low I would recommend feeding more, also, how much of a load do you have on the tank.

Not much load just live rock and 4 fish. Wanted to get into zoas since I got a job where I got time now. But wanted to get this cyno outbreak undercontrol before adding any.

Welcome, from a fellow Texas resident!

I use the Red Sea Nitrate Pro and love it. If you are following the directions (16ml water / 5 drops "A" and mix for 20 sec / 1 spoon "B" and mix for 60 sec / 1 spoon "C" and mix for 20 sec / let sit for 9 min and take reading) it's hard to not get a good reading if you are under 4ppm because the dial viewer they have for color comparison is very easy to discern shades with. I've found it to be consistent and accurate from test to test. Chances are you indeed are that low, especially if you run PO4 that low as well.

Also: People sometimes have missed that if you need to test for > 4ppm, all you need to do is use 15ml of RODI water and 1ml of tank water, check the colors, then use the chart on the back of the card to find the conversion value.

Thanks yeah I’m guessing it is just that low. I’ve also been dosing nopox for a couple weeks to try and help with the cyno going to cut back to 1ml tmrw and see if my levels come up a bit.

Middle of nowhere lol. South of bastrop.

Bastrop? Why that Metropolis is just off the beaten path somewhere between God-knows-where and B.F.E. :D

Heck - you're much closer to Austin than I am. Austin is like Frag Heaven compared to San Antonio.
