Hi from TX. Sorta new.

Bastrop? Why that Metropolis is just off the beaten path somewhere between God-knows-where and B.F.E. :D

Heck - you're much closer to Austin than I am. Austin is like Frag Heaven compared to San Antonio.
Yeah I gotta keep stuff in bulk cuz if I have a tank emergency it’s like an hour to the nearest fish store.

I’ve had a 29gal fowlr for about 6 years. Have two clowns (my first two saltwater fish and been going strong) and one six line. Use to have an bta but lost it. Joined cause I was thinking of upping my game. But now have been battle cyno. Do have a quick question. On my Red Sea nitrate pro I’ve been having trouble reading the color it’s very faint if pink at all on the diluted solution and regular. I’m thinking their just really low cause my po4 is around .02. But just wondering if anyone else experinced that with Red Sea. Oh and just switched to Red Sea from api so new to this test.
Welcome ,
The Red Sea Pro test is a great one. You have low nitrates. Since your tank has rock and not much in the way of coral I think you might not have enough to out compete the cyano for nutrients.
Harwood is not that far out in the sticks. Join the Austin Reef Club for more info on swap meets. Bring your wallet and the stick guys will love you.
There are a few LFS here as you prob know and down the road in San Antonio, no matter what sierra_bravo says. *-}

Hey neighbor! I had to look up where Harwood was ... why you're right next door to Austin.
+1 you should come to the ARC frag swap on March23rd. Good place to look into upping your game, and as a bonus you could swing through Lockhart on your way and pick up some BBQ to trade for frags. Stop by my table, I like brisket!
Check out the Austin Reef Club forum for details on the swap :)

Welcome to R2R!

My best success getting rid of cyano has come from adding flow, blasting rocks and sand with a turkey baster daily and especially before water changes, consistent water changes, and if all else fails... chemi-clean lol

Yeah been doing water changes every few days now. And doing the turkey badger thing. Thinking maybe it’s time for some new power heads since mine are almost 6 years old.
