A little to introduce myself. I was born and lived all my life in Vancouver,as a young child i was fascinated with beach critters.the crabs under the rocks, the different types of algae that you might find washed up on shore. My uncle lived in Oakbay on Vancouver Island, when visiting him I would always make my down to the bay. The tidal pools were teeming with life, I loved observing it all, touching the anonomes and watching their reactions, looking at all the other critters scrurry about.

As a teen I was gifted a 10g aquarium, in which i chose to keep neon tetras and gupppies as well as well as plants, what was available at the I .But my Interest waned as I felt the fish were, well, pretty but not really interesting, got them a new home.I tried aquatic frogs, can't remember what went wrong, they might have just died in tank probably not fed correctly. I then got a firebelly newt whom stayed alive for a bit, till one day the tank was empty, and about two weeks later i found the dried up thing under a rug. After that i decided i was not the steward of aquatic life, so i quit.

Later in life i joined the Vancouver public aquarium to help support it, but really it was to get in free, well kinda free cause i bought a membership, but it was worth every penny.

But now, the reason I'm posting. I'm going to get wet again.Doing my best to get all the information i can, been lurking and reading threads here so much. This board is the best i have found.I feel this forum is the best place to get help and advice and I want to say thank you, but be prepared to answer dumb questions :)

Hello fellow northerner, I swear theres a new Canadian here every week which is awesome! Careful R2R we are slowly taking over ;Jawdrop

Welcome to R2R, feel free to ask any questions you have but before you do I might suggest using the search function from the home page. I can almost guarantee if you have a question it has been asked before a few times and the search function is a great way to find out if it has.

Can't wait to see a build thread started up and see pictures of it all! You live in a great place to be in this hobby, plenty of great spots in Vancover for fish and equipment.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! Bad news for for me, had a plumber buddy come over to help set up my RO filter and do a few odd jobs.........found out the shower has been leaking for maybe a year? Basement storage room has bad mold and water damage so looks like tank build will be setback while i clean up that mess.

Welcome aboard and welcome to your first challenge. Consider this the biggest hurdle and the rest tiny ones. My advice: research, research, patience and research and patience.
