I looked up some photos on google but they didnt look like that. I can try and get another picture if that would help.

Brown star polyps. Super invasive soft coral. Pull them off with tweezers.

No. They can over take a tank. Some of them. Google blue clove polyp. Similar family.

Okay, the reason I ask is beacuse my zoanthids seem to be moving away from them.

I suppose it's possible there is some chemical warfare.

If it is growing in a mat like regular clove polypps it may be ok. If it's growin out of the pores it may be bad. You might have to frag the zoas and toss the rock.
Def keep looking and researching.

It's still quite possible it's just a free coral too.
Look up clavularia

And google octocoral.

Hahaha. I don't think there is a danger in letting it open up a bit too And I don't know to many refers who mind looking at corals all day.
