HLLE or normal ? YT

Well, I think mine should yellow up in a year or two. Time will tell. I’m 50/50 about the adding to DT
If you don’t add it that’s fine just make sure there’s plenty of territory for him and the six line to swim through. Add caves or something to kill of that dead space. That dead space just welcomes all the sparing

I always run carbon, and I’ve had many tangs over the years. Never had hlle, velvet yes, ich sure all the time, cloudy eye on one occasion but never hlle. Fwiw I use rox carbon, in a reactor.

I know it’s a controversial topic, and nothing seems definitive; all I can say, personally, is that I have a Yellow Tang, Purple Tang, and Blue-Eyed Kole Tang in perfect condition now that I avoid carbon. In my past, carbon appeared to have a correlation to HLLE. Let’s just say I don’t want to risk ‘jinxing’ a good thing. Lol. Best wishes to all, whichever way you go. :)

This topic has me VERY intrigued as i build out my larger tank as i hope to have many tangs (never an issue in a small tank). More research is required...i'm sure there are other threads about this i can dig up. Sorry OP for the thread hijacking and best of luck with your YT!

Epithelial thinning is pretty common in these Biota tangs:

Wow, double whammy Jay! That link addresses both the HLLE question as well as carbon potentially driving HLLE.
