HMS Mounting Arm - Need New Option

Exactly. Width of the brace lip, footprint of the brace after overhang.

Also don't get too caught up in making it PERFECT. 1/8th of an inch too much in width is fine, you just don't want to be not enough and cause the mount to have to rock forward over the brace to touch it.

If that is an area that stays dry, maybe a piece off of a cheap plastic or wooden cutting board would be where I would start. Stick with the plastic though if it will be wet.

Ok, perfect. That I can do. Thank you again for your help. I think you're right and it is a dry spot for the most part but I can probably find a piece of plastic.

Now just to pick some powerheads/wavemakers and place order for the rest of my equipment & supplies.

I’ll take a pic of my setup tonight just for one more data point. Sounds like you are on the right track.

So I got the chance to play around with mount a bit. This is just temporary to figure out exactly what I need to do, but here's what I found I need to make it work based off you guys' input. I will need to duplicate on the back whatever I put on the inside to get mount to level out and still be clamped tight enough to avoid wobble.

Sorry I'll try and get a pic of mine, but it does look like you got the idea. I don't think I have anything on the back, but I also notched out the part of the frame that extends into the tank... just the thin piece, not the entire rim.

Crappy pic. Can’t really make out the washers I used to fill the gap as they are black and this is where my ATO comes into my display. (No sump) You can see how I notched the rim though.

As I was looking at mine and trying to make it work, cutting that notch was one of the ideas. Just not sure how long I will be using single mount before adding 2nd light and multi-light kit. I should know soon though so if it's going to be a while, I'm cutting the notch.

I would tape or glue the shims in place too. I used 3M removable adhesive strips. I found that if I bump the light, the shims could come out and cause the light to fall. For me it was the back shim that wanted to fall out.

I noticed that with the coasters I was using for experimenting, I will have to find something to hold it in place that can hold up to water as well

The wood shim is held to the glass with a 3m removable adhesive strip. The inner shim is just held by pressure.
