Hob equipment for soft coral reef tank

Get it at Bulk Reef Supply. Ryan and crew have been awesome over the past 10 years, and they are reasonable.

And as Anthony hinted at, remember a marine/reef tank is grown and not just set up. Your going to run it emoty for awhile to allow bioload to build...and don't rush it..rushing actually makes it take longer to be healthy in my opnion.

i will take it slow there still stuff i have to get like wave makers test kits rock sand rodi unit.
should i get reef salt or just regular instant ocean salt?

Instant ocean reef imo is good enough
Salt is one topic you will stir a lot of debate o. But imo if joe y at the riverhead aquarium uses it and there might not be a better bigger tank in the world Then it’s good enough for me

4 stage rodi is good

I got a 5 stage just because But 4 stage is good

Salt is subjective. I prefer other salts to Instant Ocean, Like Red Sea (not the Pro)..but if your only going to have Softies IO will do ok, your just going to have to dose it every mix.

Most "Pro" salts are marketing gimmick and no need for the extra expense. Make sure you get a refractometer for salinity..don't use the cheap plastic hydrometers as they are never accurate.

get an rodi unit that is universal. It will save you a ton of money in the long run. If you vuy one that only takes one type of cartridge you will pay more for the replacements

Salt is very subjective. I use io reef crystals I like it. Ask 100 reefers and chances are you will see 14 or more different salt brands. Pick one that you want your numbers at and buy that brand.

You can start with tap. You will eventually end up with nice lush algae. I started that way and ended buying an rodi unit.

good news i was able to find a sump at my lfs that will fit my stand and i found a used stand wooden stand for my 55 and wet dry filter for 80$

I dont run a sump on my 90 gallon. For a skimmer I got the reef octo 100 HOB. Works nice

my sump wont fit in the doors of my stand i thank what i will do is make a diy stand i have a table saw i can cut 2x4 with

john i see your new here. i would be willing to ship you a bunch of softies and zoas for free to help load your tank. all you have to do is paying shipping. pm me if interested

when i started i got hooked up, just trying to pay it forward.
You're awesome!
A great skimmer and a decent HOB just to store various medias and for water flow is the recipe for success imo
