Okay so I know this is going all over the world right now withprices going up but dang the sump (trigger 34) I was looking at for a future build went from $430 to $520.

Even more of a reason to go diy now. Difference before would’ve been about $200 and now it’s $300 which in my mind doesn’t make a premade sump more worth while. 40 breeder sump here I come!

Sorry not one to rant but this one hit me hard!

Price increases get me in a ranting mood too! no need for apology here haha

Highly recommend a DIY sump. Did my 20 long with aquarium safe silicone, and baffles from ebay. And is a giant fraction of cost of a pre-built. Maybe was $60 after shipping.
Yeah a diy will cost me probably $200 or so but that’s how I want it to. Need to get quotes at a local glass shop and maybe cut down more on cost.

Like I understand it but dang build cost just keep going up and it’s hard to convince the wife specifically when looking for houses too lol
lol I know the feeling but when the reef hobby knocks on your door, asking for money. Well you better give it up or suffer the consequences.

Currently looking into onedayglass.com to build a frag tank to fit in the closet…. $250 for the glass alone but my anniversary is this month. I gotta make the gift extra good if I’m gonna be buying myself expensive crap lol

You're welcome.

I'm already planning a swap out to one..
you got 12 inches to burn underneath your tank?(assuming your using a 40b) I’m thinking this would be a great size sump under a five foot+ tank. Definitely want one for my next build

Acrylic is a petroleum product. Our raw materials costs are going up almost every week. Then of course there is the shipping. Again, petroleum. A DIY sump kit makes a lot of sense. We have some you may be interested in or we can design one for you. Fraction of the price. >>> https://tenecoraquariums.com/collections/diy-baffle-kits

EDIT: Photos coming soon.

Yup. Plenty of expansion room on the sump stand and a 40b that's about full.

Is the 60 Breeder taller or longer?
Is there a link?
Almost identical, add 12" in length which would dedicate to a "show fuge" with different macros for me.
