I was trying to avoid doing this but it looks pretty certain we will be doing a remodel. We had our house sold, but we can't find anything in our town with our size property and everything we want. So the plan is a complete new upstairs and kitchen. The tank sits in the living room (next to the kitchen) The wall it sits next to can stay, although the architect would like to take it down. My question is, what to do with the tank? We do plan on staying here for most of the remodel.

Your tank hasn't been running that long is it?
Not sure where to give you advice but a floor plan would be awesome.

Post pictures of the places that you would like to put the tank.

Dont have a floor plan yet. The architect has just started. The tank has been up for a year and some months.
I am quite sure that you will find a new place, especially with having an architect involved. I mean if you have an architect involved you could do almost anythat that you would like with and sump room/fish-room/fish cave:rolleyes: as long as you do not make changes during construction, you can hit a budget:)

Just curious how that matters right now? Im not being argumentative, just curious.
Well if you shoot a couple of pictures members can wrap there head around the situation and help you.

Sorry wife is a New Yorker and there is no thing as a quite conversation especially when she is one the phone with my mom.

I'm in this situation right now.

I set up a temporary 80g frag tank currently in the living room.
I will move it over to an office temporarily until the living room is finished. The 80g is easy to move and set up simplest.
After we get the living room done, I'll set up and transfer over to the new custom tank. Sell the frag tank

The office is the second room we are finishing just for this reason.
We are living here during remodeling too and only way I could pull off keeping my corals. Sucks to move a tank three times.

Ahhh I realize what the issue is now. What I meant was, what do with the tank DURING the remodel.

Now that's a problem
Either break it down and house the livestock with a friend in a frag tank or so, or leave it up and take the risk of a crash or any other bad thing that can happen to it.
Moving it to a room that they don't remodel for the time being is a option too.

Well, the only thing with us is, we really dont plan on touching the living room. I was thinking of moving it on the far side of the room, away from the kitchen and the wall that will be getting touched. We will be without a whole second floor for at least a week or until it's framed and sealed.

What about if one painted the room where the tank sits? Or say a basement walls where the fish tank?
does anyone know of a tank crash from paint fumes?

LOW VOC or whatever the industry standard is, is fine.

Cover with a very large plastic drop-clothe (don’t leave lights on) and you should be good for construction
