I went through the same predicament a year ago with my tank. Same issue in that I was remodeling my kitchen with the tank in my living room a few feet away. During the demolition and as much of the construction as possible, I set up a containment barrier with plastic sheathing to prevent as much dust as possible from making it to my tank. I did not take any other precautions (don't ask me why) and I may have dodged a bullet. The top of the tank was covered in dust so I know for a fact that it made it into my system. I never had any adverse reactions or issues. At the time I was only running a filter sock, refugium, and skimmer.
I would suggest as others did by using a plastic tarp or sheathing to cover the top of the tank as well as any other openings in your stand/sump. Also the lights as I had to deep clean the fans on my LED's once the construction was finished.
