Hooking up RODI directly to water supply

Hey all. I’m in the final stages of setting up a 120 tank. One of the things I’m working on now is my RODI. I was in the hobby 15 years ago and had a few floods from my RODI filter, one occurring from a leak between the faucet and the screw on ro connection. I’m doing my best to eliminate that from happening again. I am setting up my filter in my basement and tee’d off my 1/2” water line. My feed line to my filter is 3/8” tubing. I bought a 1/2” x 3/8” sharkbite reducer thinking I could use that to directly plug into my feed line to my filter. However the 3/8” ro tubing is much smaller than the 3/8” sharkbite that takes pex pipe. Does anyone know what connection I need to make this union? Any help is much appreciated!

I have a 1/2" valve off my water line in my garage that has a reducer that goes from the 1/2" pex pipe to the 1/8th" ro tubing.

Thanks mfinn! Where can I find the fitting at the top on your ball valve? I spent 2 hours today with an associate from Lowe’s trying to make that connection. It’s so frustrating that poly tubing sizing is way different than pex sizing.

I tee'd into my washing machines cold water supply w/this double valve from HD

I believe I actually found it at Lowes.
But I was just at Lowes and they didn't have much of the stuff they used to.

Take a piece of the ro tubing with you and get a new shark bite 1/2" valve with threads on one end ( shark bite on the other) and tell the associate you need whatever they have to make the 2 to connect.

Maybe venture on to Home Depot or Ace Hardware.

You will need an old school compression fitting and a bushing to adapt to pipe. Any good hardware store should have both. Usually made of brass. You might find a nylon version as well.

You could also use a saddle valve but your best bet is like the picture.

I've been using this since last April. Been working out well for me. I don't think this is the right size for you but maybe you can find something similar in your size.

My home depot also had these. I decided to go with the compression fitting over the push in. Less chance of leaking ime. They also had sizes for 3/8 of tube if I remember correctly. The guy working there was useless. Had to find this stuff on my own in their store.

Well the weird thing is is that my feed line to my filter is 3/8 tubing. All the other tubing is 1/4”. This may be causing the problems...

I do not. But I’m not sure I need one. There’s an open access to my sewer line where I’m installing my filter that I can drop the waste water line into
