A saddle valve is a clean way to connect the waste water line and you won’t have to worry about the hose coming out but yes you can get away without it.

I'm still working on that myself. It's a standard thread not a NPT. everything at the hardware store was NPT. This should work.

That would connect to threaded outlet and then your RoDi would plug into that.

Just wanted to follow up here and thank you all. I scrapped the 1/2 - 3/8 reducer coming out of my ball valve and got a threaded compression fitting in its place. Everything is working. I appreciate all the feedback.

A John Guest Angle Stop Valve is your best bet as Pau Hana Reefer suggested above.

This ended up working for me if you decide to hard plump into a main line. I wanted to do it this way so the flow wasn't restricted by a faucet.
