What kind of pump. Mag drive pumps or known to get hot if its one of those. Great pumps though.

That's one drawback to cheap pumps and some that are not so cheap! The Coralvue Waterblasters dont get hot and are a great value.

Im running the Ecoplus 4950 on mine and dont have any issues with heat, and i have alot of headpressure! I think im pushing about 10 ft vertical and 35 to 40 horizontal!!. Pretty quiet as well..... Its been running for about 6 months no problems...had to replace the first one it just stopped working one day after a power outage it never turned back on.....not sure if was a pump failure or power surge problem...

Hey Gary Nice to see you around again! I have that same pump at Dustins and his gets hot too so you must be lucky or just not see the heat they put out in general and we had one quit just like you did for no apparant reason, Not a real good track record IMO.
The water Blasters come with a 3 year warranty and are electronic with No Heat issues and are dead silent, Much better choice IMO

ive ran a few ecoplus pumps but are were small .. none had any heat issues and still work great i love the pumps ... i hooked the 1584 up to my 150g to test for heat and its not heating the water at all .. so maybe its just in such a small container the heat builds up over a few hours .. but over night the temp in my 150 went from 75 to 74 after 12hours of running the pump.

I've never had any heat issues with my ecoplus. Its quiet too.

Hey Bill I'm trying to make time for the hobby. Good to see everyone active here! :) Where can i find one of those water blaster pumps? and do they make one big enough to run on my tank? You remember my setup, i have alot of head pressure! I though about getting a small sump to put under my stand but just couldnt bring myself to doing it...Its too complicated to get anything under that stand the way its designed!

My tank usually runs right around the 77.9- 78.2 range in winter and then summer it stays around 79.4- 80.2 No chiller just a couple of CPU fans that i have to hook up to my controller in mid summer... Maybe the water traveling through all the pipes going through my basement has a little time to cool down.....

Water blasters are awesome just installed one... Now my skimmer is so loud lol... And I can't feel one bit I heat coming off of it
