While I do not know what you observed exactly, but that most definitely is not generally true. Reef Crystals at reasonable salinity does not have alkalinity below 9 dKH.

What process does everybody use when mixing fritz? Just bought my first box.

RODI water run a day with a heater to get up to temp and then add salt, mix to your flavor!
