I always see WWC AOI’s getting snapped up on live sakes and many competing bids on eBay bids.

I feel like nothing WWC sells counts. They have an army of customers who still pay $199 for illuminatis or superstars.. they cant keep them in stock so they price them high despite them being 30-50PP everywhere. Same with AOIs.. They are a weed and cost nothing, but WWC still brings huge money for them on their site and ebay.. My guess mostly from noobs who dont know any other vendors, ebay, r2r, fb, etc..

I don’t disagree, but what you described qualifies as a ‘hot’ zoa LOL

As someone mentioned before, SBB Hephaestus are pretty popular right now.

This is a pretty zoa. But without photography and being able to enhance and enlarge the pictures, are these that much different than Bowsers, CARs/CAOs, ASD hyperjubilees, etc.

I don't have expert eyes, but can you really the difference when it is in your tank between the SBB Hephaestus and some of the others?

I sure can. If they are on a rock in a display tank maybe not. But most hardcore zoa collectors have frag tanks that are 12" tall.. I get my face nice and close lol

I actually love this thread and there are pics of some gorgeous Zoas that I didn't even know existed. I think they even might deserve their high price tags. There are some that I really want and waiting for someone to sell them.

I also agree with @fcmatt that some are just ridiculous. Like snitches zoas. So it MIGHT be a little different than fire and ice but seriously a $100/polyp?

This is just an example, lots of other sites charge similar prices.

Not enough blue lighting in this post. Please turn it up to 11.

This. I wish there was more pushback against renaming. If it already has a name, just use that name!

Candy Apple Red = Hephaestus = Bowser. But for some reason the prices are not the same.

But even aside from prices, whats frustrating as a collector is when you buy a frag of what is supposedly a new type and found out its the same as a type already in your collection under a different name.

Bozos Birthdays? Not that I know of. I honestly think they are extinct. I gave some back to BigR last year and his melted, so did mine. And I asked everyone for them and no one had them. :/

I have your LC antimatters. They are dope, I really really like them and they grow amazing. But they are still no where near Bozos Bday.. Those are just special.
Cherry Coral has a frag for sale and it's where I got mine a year ago :)

So they’re not the same they’re slightly different and it becomes apparent when you look closely at pictures of them.... as a zoanthid collector it’s important to note the differences and do your research in order to protect your investment... that means looking at pictures and finding differences and even looking in person to spot those differences because I’m not gonna spend 200$ on a polyp for it to not be genuinely different ya know ? Anyways I totally agree that there should be a pushback on renaming, like Jason fox stargazers, are the same as daisy cutters and when I first got them they were blue pinwheels lol

For the experts, is there a real difference between queen strats and white walkers. I have queen strata, and I want to get some white walkers as I like the color contrasts, but in many pics, they look the same.

Heres the thing.

If I import a half dozen rocks of eagle eye type zoas, there are gonna be slight variations among them. One will have a longer skirt, one will have some interesting white speckling on it, one will be a little more yellowish green than green.

So yeah there are tiny differences but theyre all eagle eyes. Nobody wants to spend money on a newly named "extra long skirt eagle eye" -- or worse, a "whammin watermelon" or "super sayan", then find out its essentially the same as the eagle eyes already in their collection.

Same with the three I mentioned. Different names, but all close enough to the same thing. Now my eagle eye example was silly because aside from a few notorious vendors, most sellers are sensible enough to say "this is just a slight variation on eagle eyes, I'm not gonna try to fool anyone".

But people do it all day long with candy apple reds and sunny Ds, each of which exists in the hobby with a half dozen different names ... but when I buy them and put them side by side, they're effectively identical. I wish people would just spend some time searching to see if their new zoa already has a name, before giving it a new one just because that particular polyp has a slightly different shade of green or a few white speckles.

In ID threads I always preach that there’s distinguishing characteristics that you have to look for which aren’t tied lighting, flow, or water parameters. I don’t collect any of the agaves/seductions because they morph so wildly and to me it’s mostly the same thing.

In the example above you want to com white walkers and strats? Here they are, same system, same lighting.

which’s ones which?

I also saw mention of eagle eye vs super sayian.

They are indeed two different things (even more apparent when the super sayians aren’t being *****.

Unfortunatly I see people ‘researching’ ID’s in the forum and more often than not people name shop or split hairs over arbitrary differences. What’s more frustrating, aside from rebrands from vendors with some clout (looking at you CB), is misnamed stuff on retailer’s sites. I see it often enough. So, at the end of the day it defaults to collectors doing their homework.
