Not sure on your answer but somewhere I have seen someone say r2r was started about revtrees love of zoas or something like this then evolved Into r2r.maybe look @revhtree first post or maybe he can enlighten you

How did reef2reef start?

I was curious about reef2reef. I am sure Rev can answer this question best. When was it started and what made you want to start it. Giive us the entire background did you start it or was it bought from someone else. I want the low down lol.

Not sure.
If I remember correctly it was a dark blue and and darker blue.
I think the the current dark mode is a throw back to then.

I’m curious how R2R surpassed Reef Central. The fact that Reef Central died out and R2R became the go to site is astones hung. I imagine the impetus began when big names in the hobby switched over. Personal conflict? Disagreements?

I’m glad to have a high traffic forum to talk Reef, but sad when archives are lost. The entire photo history of my reef experience was lost when forums closed and photobucket changed over.

I was always curious of this too and now we have an answer as to the how but not the first thread…yet

That said, I think R2R came to surpass many forums due to the moderation style. RC was a very strict moderation back in the day. RAG had too many issues with Reefs.org and I think both forums suffered. Nano reef I think tried to be a middle ground but people had the concept it was for nano owners only. I can’t recall any of the other old ones.
