How do I get rid of this?

My tank is 10 months old. Cycled with dry Marco and meona Rock. Have had these algae for the past 3 months. I have about 16 Astrea snail. Tank is about 350g. What do the expects recommend to ge rid of it or should I just let the tank mature?

What are your current water parameters?

I would recommend other CUC members too: Cerith snails, turbo snails, trochus snails, a conch, nassarius snails.

For the Cyano, you could use chemiclean. I've had excellent experience with it, it is like magic - all cyano gone within 72 hours.

Looks to be a good case of cyano bacteria (red slime). Chemiclean and increase your flow.

Params look quite good, but phosphates might be a little misleading as some of it could be in the algae itself.

If it were me, I'd do this in the following order:

1) Add more CUC see how they do for about a week (I saw your build thread and the tank is HUGE haha
2) siphon out the cyano and see if it still comes back
3) If cyano still comes back, i'd do chemiclean treatment, follow the instructions to a T
4) Consider adding a refugium or algae scrubber if you continue to have issues down the road to keep nutrients in check

Along with the increased cuc I would manually remove as much as you can. From the pics it doesn't look all that bad but its enough to figure out whats causing it and finding a solution to keep it from coming back to those levels.

Thank you...I did a bit of that last week before the usual 2 wkly water change. i will repeat prior to every water change pending my CUC.

Whoah! Hmm your tank is like 8 times the size of mine so I'm not really sure. But at first glance, that looks like quite a lot! #reefsquad any thoughts?

Also, it's up to you to decide if you want crabs or hermits. I personally don't want any in my tank since i've heard too many different issues of them down the road.

Defiantly not overkill but I would get rid of the crabs and add more snails. You can also turn your whites down a little and add more blues to help stop the algae growth. Then let the CUC do it’s thing for a week or 2. If that doesn’t help then you can revert to chemicals.

I wouldn't do the mexican turbo. They're a subtropical species and have a very short lifespan in our tanks due to high temperatures. Seems cruel to intentionally shorten their life with an unsuitable habitat.

In terms of everything else, that's a way larger CUC than I go for, and I wouldn't do the crabs.

with regards to the lights, I have a combo of T5 and kessil 360s, so maybe turn of the T5s for a few days?
