How do people get crystal clear water

Ozone beats them all. Its the moat powerful oxidant on the planet. Heres a before and after shot of the clarity of water in a bucket:

I'm thinking about getting an Ozone 'machine'. Currently I don't run Carbon, but I do have particles in my water, film algae takes about a week to make a dent in my glass and there is a slight 'ocean' smell around my tank that the wife hates. I'm debating either buying a reactor for Carbon...

I bought the Avast ozone reactor since the time this post was created and it is AMAZING

Filter socks, carbon, UV, water change, clean the glass of all algae, eliminate background lighting around the tank. I like to add a layer of filter floss into my sump a day before pictures as well. Usually the day of a water change.

I converted a clear whole house filter to a DE filtration system. Filters down to. 05 micron. I feed heavy so clean every 2 weeks. 2 of 32 and counting

Wow, i picked up one of the marineland polishing filters, added the de and put it in my tank. I love to blow off the rocks and see.it all.get sucked up by it.

Its a small drop in canister filter. It comes with a cage to put media(charcoal, ect) in and a pleated filter. I used the pleated filter and charged it with DE.

skip the DE, just run the micron filter
