Bro, most detergents use phosphate to remove stains. If some is stuck in there, test for phosphate in tank. Try throwing a gallon of vinegar through the washer. I know you can use it for cleaning, irons, coffee makers, and windows.

If you want bring by some water on your way home, ill test it with the hanna.

I just had the same problem with high phosphates and nitrates. It turned out to be fabric softener remnants. I am going to start using Firefightered's process.

In the washing machine on hot...

I was told long ago to not wash in hot water, because of the metals that get stored in your hot water heater..have no clue if thats true but have never washed in hot water

Any issue with spraying with a focused hose tip inside and out, outside on sidewalk?
Then shake out water and air dry.

I wait to I have a bunch of dirty socks, run my washer empty through one cycle, wash the socks with bleach and then put them through a rinse cycle. I then put them in a bucket of RODI water for a few days and then start to use them.

Same here. Wash with bleach, run once more with just water. Then let sit a day in RO water, then air dry.
When i change my sock, i always rinse them in cold water a few times just for the heck of it.

washer with a splash of bleach, run it once more with nothing, hang and let air dry. The bleach evaporates out, good as new, buying new socks each month is insane imo haha

I wash mine with bleach in the washer with extra rinse then air dry.

If you use 7" filter socks with a rigid ring toss them in a zip loc and mail them to me as I need some new ones. I will wash them when they get here. Have bad my current 3 for over a year and just need to start replacing them now.

thanks for all the info guys! maybe i have some other issue im missing other than blaming it on my filter socks
