That is a topic that can be highly debatable
I myself am a firm believer in skimming. Organics may build up in your water from waste and foods.
I run the helix 5000 on 80g of volume.

Looks like you have an elaborate setup btw I have a eheim ultra g 90 filter on mine for now it does pretty well by itself

I ran a nac5e for the longest time but the pump was just to loud.
It was great at skimming though

As said before cut the shrimp up into tiny pieces and don't force them if they don't want to eat it neither. I thought I'd add that make sure if u do use shrimp to get raw shrimp. U don't want already cooked shrimp. Most of what Walmart has frozen has already been cooked than refrozen. The reason I feed shrimp is because it's cheaper on me and more convient.

Oh ok will do and I hate shopping at Walmart for groceries their meats suck so I go to food lion or bi lo and it's in the budget on the Xmas list lol but I think I will go for it seeing how I want to add like three more anemone a carpet sebae and possibly considerably ritteri as you can tell I'm fascinated with anemone

I was looking at this eshopps psk-75 hob skimmer it has good reviews and with a slight modification it will be super quiet cause I know my gurl will talk **** if it's not lol

Lol yup they can't stand noisy tanks

I am almost all dc now so the only thing I hear is the water going over the sump baffle

DC? Lol yea she likes to talk trash when I'm doing all my testing and maintenance but them be like you tank looks good need to add more stuff lol btw do bubble corals spread all over the exo? I think when moving mine i may have hit one side of it when it was bubbled up now it seems like that side won't bubble back up

Ya dc is quiet!
I only have power heads and chiller pump that is ac. I have a dc 3000 ready for the chiller just haven't done it lol
I would say that the skeleton got damaged
If the water is good to go it should recover

Oh yeah water is pristine at the moment and you need a chiller cause your lights get too hot

No I run the Orphek atlantik led.
I have a chiller cause in the summer here it gets and stays over 100 degrees
The chiller is offline during fall and winter. That's why I haven't changed to the dc pump yet. I have time
