I’m working on plumbing my first custom build, and I’m dry-fitting plumbing for the overflow box. I want your thoughts and suggestions so that I can change what may need changed before I get too far into the project.

The overflow box is configured for a Bean Animal configuration. It can handle 1,600 GPH, which I will not come close to. I have a 1” gate valve on the primary drain, sandwiched between two union. There are also unions on the secondary drain and on the emergency drain.

Do you see anything that I should change?

Make sure you can easily access the gate valve for initial setup and fine adjustments. This is probably another vote for down by the sump instead of behind the tank.

I decided that I’m going to move the gate valve to a spot just above the sump so that the siphon can start easier since it will have less air to purge from the drain.

Good idea! My preference is to have the valve at the sump as well, it's way easier to adjust there than behind the tank for me.

I assume you will have access to the back of the tank. If limited space, you will want to have unions lower behind sump area so you have access to them.
