How long before adding a carpet anemone or bubble tip anemone?

Tank is over 2 months old… should I be waiting to add a carpet or bubble tip anemone? Also what should water parameters be? Any special specifications? Thanks

I highly recommend waiting until 9 months if not a year. Success is much greater with anemones after your tank has matured. Bta is much easier than carpets as well.

Yes all anemones need a mature tank unless you’re willing to work on your parameters daily making sure no changes happen until your tank naturally settles. I’ve found that I don’t have the time or energy to supply the constant need in a new tank but everyone is different. Some can keep acros in a new tank some say wait. It is easier to wait then to kill one and say I’ll try again. Then again I hate killing anything in my tank but it does happen.

I would wait until the tank is more mature, about 9 months. Most of the time anemones dont do well in younger tanks.

With what everyone else is writing about using the emergency tag, please try not to use it unless you have a real emergency at hand. Usually more urgent stuff like a bunch of fish or corals dying very quickly or a tank is leaking, just stuff that needs to be addressed quickly

This is exactly right and get nem guards on all powerheads.

I added my RBTA when my Tank was only 2 months old, but i did add live Rock from a stablished tank when i first Cycled my tank.

Would triggers nip on it ?

I added mine at 4 months and it is totally fine but I’m pretty on top of testing, water changes, and I sit by it 8 hours a day. I think if YOU are ready then the tank can be.

but I think of everything in my tank as a dog or horse. Do you want to risk your dogs life? I don’t know up to you

At least 6 months. They need very stable conditions.
Keep in mind these animals can live to over 100 years of age in the wild, so please don't rush it.

Because the high ammonia was an emergency. So was the clown issue. So was the bacteria bloom. So were the white things on the glass. Better question is what isn’t an emergency.

I think they are referring to the over-usage of 'emergency' tags. Best to save that tag for real emergencies, don't want to 'cry wolf' too many times or people will start to be wary

High Ammonia is what one would consider as an “emergency” in this hobby, along with an unexpected bacterial bloom, the reason being this was also an “””emergency””” was due to the needed timely response as I was going to purchase one and needed the info asap. I understand what you are saying but this is an Aquarist forum and not the end of the world, nothing better to do than to view my whole page then comment something time wasting and unnecessary lol
