Id say the colors dont really pop too well, but its a Current USA bulb that came with the fixture, and its about 6 months old

10 hours 6 days a week. Then i use my T5's and run them for a day on actinics, like a cloudy day...

BTW, I would say I get good to moderate growth in my tank. I clipped a stag 29 days ago and it has healed and has already grown an inch since. IME, Lighting is way overrated. How long can a coral go without ligh vs how long can a coral go without oxygen.

I also run the good old fashioned VHO as actinics. There is nothing like the "pop" of vho's.

nice, idk corals will eventually die with out light but i see ur point

Very true, it is very important to find out the line of over saturation and not supplying the corals with enough light. I have found that my tank's colors respond very nicely to a certain amount of light. Like everything else in this hobby, its a personal choice on how one achieves success.

very true i just had to put a brain coral under total shade bc my lights where killing it

Yep. I keep mostly SPS and chalices now, That means bright spots for the sticks and lower light areas for the plates.

You can always acclimated it to the light by moving it off to the side or into a cave and then start bringing it out more and more every couple of days.

yea thats a good idea i can try that, i mean now its under total shade, before when it was in the light u could see the whole skelton and everything looked really bad, once i moved it into the shade he puffed right back up

I know chalices and favias that like shade more than direct sunlight. There is a reason you liked it and bought it. Give it a chance to acclimate

yeah someone on another site said when they got there new light that happened, they moved it all the way down and slowly brought it back up, and now it looks amazing again.

yea im gonna try testing that theory tmrw and over the next few days hopefully it works bc its really an AWSOME looking piece i would hate to have to trade it in
