How long for zoas to adjust to light

Yeah So I have had Zoas open right up and I have had them take like 2 weeks or so before they were consistently opening. Patients is all I can say. Until they melt they have a chance. Yes light alcamation...move to the bottom or sides of the tank with lower flow for a week or so. Once you see some improvement start to slowly move them to where you want them. Feeding optional but if you read through most of us are feeding them 1-2x a week. Reef roids or coral frenzy I think are at the top of the list for food. I was using Reef Roids but just switched over to coral frenzy to see how that compares. Controversial additive is Iodine dosing, Some swear by it and others say there is not benefit. I am currently using kent marine iodine on a daily dose. It is not as strong as Lugos, so I feel the small amount I am dosing plus my weekly water changes there is not much need to test for it.

Do you happen to known- does a zoa polyp need to be closer to dip them ?

So, I don't know the reason but I do have my zoas closed before dipping. Though I have had some stubborn ones that didn't want to close and survived a dip in furan-2 for 15 min followed by a 15 min dip in reef dip and a 5 min swish in some tank water. I was definitely concerned that the polyp was not wanting to close considering it usually does not take much to get that reaction. I also try to "paint" the frag plug with hydrogen peroxide to limit algae and stuff that can hang out on the plug you may not want in your tank....

Almost half my new tank is zoa frags ... and adding 6 more next week sorry they where closed ! I had just fed and they grabbed it up and closed!

Well it the waste from that. I believe the zooxanthellae is the symbiotic stuff that lives in them. I feed my Zoa dominated tank reef roids and my zoas (even when I broadcast feed) show a feeding response.

Mine do as well. I turn the pumps and wave makers off and broad cast so it casts down on rocks. The tenticals extend and as soon as it reaches them they wrap it up and close until they are satisfied with the amount of food they have eaten. I give it about 5-10 minutes and then turn my wavemakers back on but leave the pumps off.... gives my candy canes and mushrooms a chance to get ready to eat. Leave the pumps off about an hour. Before turning back on
