So I ordered a piece of equipment from a member here. I had paid over 24 hours ago. I have yet to hear anything back. No PMs, text or anything. Should i go ahead and despite through PayPal and get my money back, or give it another 24hrs? I'm big on communication, if there's a problem or delay, just tell me. But to not respond to three PMs after I make payment makes me nervous. We're not talking about $20 here, almost $300. So what should I do? I'm hoping he gets back to me tonight, I passed on a mother really good deal to do this. It's my birthday present to myself. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but to ignore me ticks me off. Especially when I saw they were on the forum today at 3:08. Would love another opinion.

Its so hard to say. Personally I'm with you on the communcation thing. At the same time I'm one of those that looks and says "I'll do it in a minute".. And forget. I would wait till late this evening then start flipping out.. Does the member have any other feedback or items for sale? Anyone else you could PM that has done business to get a little more info or some reassurance?

I would give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a couple days to respond. Just because they were on earlier today, they might have been accessing the site on their phone or something. I can't type on my phone to save my life without a million typos, so I avoid it at all costs. You have something like 6 weeks to file a dispute through Paypal, so no need to rush it.

It looks like they are a fairly new member here. I'll give it until tomorrow afternoon for them to at least respond to one of my 4 pm's. After that I'll file a dispute through PayPal. I've actually been working this deal until Sunday. Once I paid, the communication stopped. That's the problem I'm having.

i think you need to wait 30 days before filing a dispute thru pp tho. not sure. But, it does seem that your extremely nervous for potentially no reason. I hope it turns out ok for ya.

I would be peeved, but would wait 48 hours. I believe sellers are responsible to ship within 48 hours, but nothing forcing them to ship sooner without a future arrangement. The not responding thing is a different story though. Just hang in there for a few more hours. Happy birthday!!

Yeah, I don't see a reason to get upset after just 24 hours. Things happen, people get busy at home and work, etc. Give him a bit of time to respond as many people aren't on the internet as often as others. Remember that not everybody has a smartphone for internet and email notifications as well.

Contact has been made. I did get a little nervous. I don't usually order from anyone I haven't been talking to for awhile, or some type of relationship. especially around the country. I just kind of needed that little "it's ok". lol. I've got a close net of people in NC ,SC,Va,NJ and Florida I always deal with. I've meet a bunch if great people hear and am just stepping out. Like I stated before, I'm bf on communication. First time I used paypal, I sent $560 to the wrong person. It was three days before I ever found out. That was interesting, being it I was new to PayPal. lol. Well, thanks everyone for the talk. I'm going to go play with my tank now, then off to work. Haha

glad contact was made I agree with you sending money to someone not a company always makes me a little on edge till I get the stuff in hand

No product, no contact, no returned PMs. What a disappointment.

These statements contradict each other.....

I would wait till tonight to give them one last opportunity to explain the issues. A tracking number is a must for me. If no response is recieved I would dispute it. If you don't have time to provide proper correspondence or ship in a timely fashion you shouldnt be selling. I understand that things come up, but everyone has 5 minutes in a day to spare to let them buyer know what is going on with their stuff. I would never wait more than a couple days to file a dispute, just as I would expect someone to do the same if I did not properly keep them informed. Wait till tonight and then dispute away. Also, if know communication is recieved by tomorrow, I would leave them negative feedback on here to let other buyers know who to avoid.

That's my issue, communication. If you tell me what's going in, I can deal with it, or work something out. If I tell someone I'm going to do something, I do it. Or explain why before the due time was up. Not make them chase after me. And as far as the whole internet, pm, email, I've left my cell phone number on three different PMs. With the words " fill free to call or text I'd there's a problem".

inexcusable...personally i'd post the person's userhandle and notify my cc asap (hope you paid as goods and not as gift).

edit: i was thinking about it - if you at least post up the userhandle - maybe people actually KNOWS this person in the flesh and can assist. Like if this was a seller from our reef club...i could at least see if i or one of my buddies knows him/her. Sometimes things come up and cause a person to be away...but so far everything you posted seems to raise red flags...

Yeah, just too many red flags for me. File the dispute and if he settles up with you, you can always close it but I wouldn't wait any longer if it was my money
