How long will my wrass bury him self?

He just came out today and I am so happy.:D He has looked right at my sexy shrimp and showed no interest (so far). I can see him pecking things of the rocks and sand. I'll try to post a picture of him.

So my wrasse finally comes out and has a red blotch on his body and 2 days later is dead, then 2 days after that the green chomis I got at the same time as the wrasse got red blotches on them and a day later there dead( I bought these fish at a different place then I normally do), so Today I got medicine and starting treating for a bacteria, I hope my other fish will be ok. My question to everyone is when you get new fish to you set up a quarantine tank always, and if so how exactly do you do it, how long do the fish stay in for, I've never done a quarantine tank but I'm thinking maybe I should start.

Look up Uronema marinum. Red blotches are common symptom, chromis have a reputation for having it..

My melanarus wrasse hid for almost 4 weeks. I thought i had lost it. When he came out he was in bad shape. But he quickly recovered after only a few days. Got my tank rid of flatworms and all kinds of creatures. Including sexy shrimps. Apparently they are just too tempting to pass up. Lol!

Also, do you think that he will bother my sexy shrimp?

I think you're probably OK right now but it will become an issue sooner rather than later. I had a six-line (never again) that was a little bigger than yours and one day I bought a pair of sexy shrimp. I acclimated them, dropped them in the tank and one never even made it to the bottom before the six-line devoured it in the blink of an eye. The other one lasted about 30 seconds before he got it. I was dumbfounded, I would have never guessed that wrasse could open it's mouth so big but he downed these shrimp like a couple of tater tots!
