How many are using controllers

Curious how many people use fully functional reef controllers(ie apex, hydros, ghl, etc). Not counting things like wifi power strips or single function controllers(ie ph controllers)

Neptune Apex. My reef history is now "Before Apex" and "After Apex", and I can't really imagine not having one now that I've come to rely on it.

I rely on myself to "control" things but have a Hydros that does certain repetitive tasks for me daily.

Great to have. Biggest advice is don’t go all in on a single brand. It creates a critical single point of failure on your system.

I agree 100%. I have an Apex classic, and I am thinking of GHL prolux 4 in the near future

I like the apex but I don’t use anything specific that I can’t get on another controller

Apex here. Love it although have had a few issues. Not technically the fault of the apex however…kind of.

I have the GHL Maxi and 2 , 2.1 dosers. I like the Apex controller app and PC interface over the GHL control center. The GHL dosers are far nicer and quieter.

The DOS is so loud it seems like it was intentional. I couldn’t believe it

Not currently, but will probably pick up a Hydros X4 early 2022.

Full apex classic, and can't imagine running a tank without some kind of controller. I used to do all those manual task, well manually. I now let the apex do a lot of it.

Although my classic still works great, it's getting dated(I would love a trident!). I've been looking into GHL for something different.

I have an Apex in the fish room for sump/filtration/AWC/dosing control with trident. At the DT I will just use the built in controls for lighting and in tank flow pumps. I may run a wire to control the in tank pumps in the future. Unfortunately I forgot to do this when running the PVC and now it is not so easy

Apex is overpriced. Can do most of what it does with an inexpensive inkbird, some super-reliable internet-controllable outlet strips with built in wifi, and android apps with timer functionality. Add a pinpoint pH monitor and don't look back.

I've said it before, there's no better value than a used Apex Classic. People sell them for peanuts just to "upgrade" to that gaudy piece of plastic with a few extra power ports and port monitoring. I love my classic.

I'm still using a first gen apex. One if these days I will get one that doesn't require a wireless bridge!
