How many Berghia Nudibranch do you recommend for a 380g display that is really getting a bad infestation of aiptasia?

It really depends on how patient you are and do you have a plan of what to do with them after they eat everything. I would say approx 10

I haven't figured out the right number yet apparently. My 90g is still filled with aiptasia after addition of 15 medium and 5 large a couple of months ago. I never noticed a change though I did see them around the tank occasionally. I am getting ready to order a file fish to hopefully get me out of this mess.

You want more than 10 i guarantee you that. I put about 9 into my tank (40 breeder) and they are very slow at removing them.

I put 25 in my 90. It was overrun with aiptasia. Within the first day they were laying eggs. It's been two weeks and almost all the aiptasia is gone. And some of the nudi's are huge, 1"+.

You'll need atleast 25 minimum. Priority is to have them breed. I have about 10 I can give you, will make sure they have eggs inside ready to be layed.

Give him an idea of how many you have and what size they are, including any oversized ones bigger than a nickel. Also don’t forget to get a few extra just to toss in your overflow area if you have one.

Just ordered the sump for my new 60 gallon cube, so it will only be a few months before I can move them there. I thought I only had 2 heads of aiptasia, but I'm noticing it everywhere now.

Yes, you can add them to your 29G. The Berghia only live as long as they can eat the aptasia. Keep in mind folks, Berghia are the best option to control Aptasia but will not guarantee they will not return. It's worth the cost, and the sooner you act, the cheaper it'll be.

I put 20 in my 180 for a heavily infested tank back on Jan. 5 months later there are still a lot of aiptaisa but nowhere near the original amount,. For that size tank I would say 30-40 minimum. 22 is just not gonna do it, speaking from current experience.

They are not 100% guaranteed to eat aiptasia however.

I put 24 in my 108 gallon display.

Took about 2-3 weeks then the aiptasia started to disappear.

Within 6 weeks all aiptasia were gone.

It can take an extra couple weeks for sure as they need to find each other and reproduce.

I placed my jar of nudibranchs in the tank on the rocks and let them all come out on their own. Took about 5 hours till the last one was out

Tomentosus are almost 100% guaranteed to eat them and will do so faster than Nudibranch which may be collateral damage in the tank in the form of food for hungry wrasses, peppermint shrimp, or other fish that forage at night. Especially their young. Some say they taste like the pest you want to eradicate so they get spit out but fish are fish and, well, unpredictable. What is labeled as reef safe may or may not be, right? We have all run into this one time or another.

At the end of the day a lot depends on the hobbyist risk willingness. Do you want to roll with Berghia, fish, shrimp, or some other form of removal. All will work just varying degrees.

Yes however with filefish your corals are also on the dinner menu.... I have an ORA filefish and it very rarely will eat an aiptsia. Even peppermints will destroy softie and lps corals. Nudis are the only 100% safe way to irradicate aiptasia, as it is the ONLY thing they will eat.
