How many Berghia Nudibranch do you recommend?

It really depends on how infested it is and how quickly you want the infestation gone.

In my heavily infested 55g, I started off with 6 small ones. Six weeks later, they had made some progress, but there was still quite a bit of aiptasia. Added six more, and the aiptasia was gone within the next 6 weeks, and there were about 20+ berghia in the tank.

You'll likely never achieve 100% eradication with berghia, but they're far more reliable than any other aiptasia control method I've ever tried.

Yes however with filefish your corals are also on the dinner menu.... I have an ORA filefish and it very rarely will eat an aiptsia. Even peppermints will destroy softie and lps corals. Nudis are the only 100% safe way to irradicate aiptasia, as it is the ONLY thing they will eat.

With everything there is a trade off. I've also kept a non ORA filefish (Acreichthys tomentosus) and it cleared aiptsia and left corals alone - doesn't mean mean my word is gospel. Thus the comment about reef safe and risk factor the hobbyist is willing to take.

If coral isn't a concern I'd go the route of the filefish. Spending $225 + dollars on 22 berghia isn't something that I'd consider a great return on investment. Especially since their only food source leads them to their death and destruction if you can't rehome them.

The more you get, the quicker they can reproduce, the quicker the aptasia will be gone. I would say at least 30-40. I had a heavily infested 57g and got 10. It took about 4 months for the aptasia to be completely gone and I ended up with almost 100 and sold them to my LFS or other local reefers. Just make sure you dont have wrasses or peppermint/camel shrimp that will hunt and eat them

Well I ordered the 25 pack from Salty Underground and got a few extra! :)

Btw I paid full price for these like you would but wanted to share some photos of a nice package and healthy stock.

This is where I purchased mine....you'll be very happy. Don't sweat it if you don't see a dent in the aptasia population for a few weeks or even a month. They'll get the job done. I thought multiple times none of mine survived and I wasted the money but I couldn't have been more wrong.

Also don't sweat it if you never see them again. I finally saw one the other night after several months.
Some aiptasia appeared 2 weeks ago on the other side of the tank. They are gone now.

I just got 8 for my 750xxl. Last year I added 2 with less of an outbreak and they took care of it.

Now I’ve got more again, probably from a frag plug, and added 8. Hopefully they can take care of it.

Man they sent you some big ones. Must be nice to be the Boss man.:)

I paid extra for the larger ones! Paid what was on the site $230+ I believe it was! :p

I was very fortunate as I got my 26 plus 2 egg sacs at the 1/2 off sale!

Over 200 $$ ? Good Lord ! I'm surprised to hear Apastia are so prevalent I had a Copper band in my 75 for around a year she took care of them for me . I moved the fish to a much larger tank . then several yrs later. I bought a small frag & BAM Apastia again. Sure enough the lfs had apastis in the very tank I got the frag from . I understand the nudi's are the best but had no idea they were so pricey !

That is where its at. I now know what I am doing when I retire,:);Joyful

I think one could support a tank selling nudibranchs.

Meaning regular maintenance purchases and a few frags here and there

How many Berghia Nudibranch do you recommend for a 380g display that is really getting a bad infestation of aiptasia?
I put 4 berghia in a 125 once. They did the job over time. Once they start laying eggs you are golden. You do need to be patient. Also, follow instructions carefully. You need to reduce flow until they get settled. Also, I believe “hunting” wrasses like 6 line and even peppermint shrimp can eat them from what I remember.

I put 12 in a Red Sea Reefer 250 which is a 55 Gallon Display. They wiped out over 100 apstasia within 2 months.

It was recommended to me 5 in a 30. 10 for quick results. They DO work.

I ended up having to put in 24 in my 120 dt. Now I would say 80 percent r gone in 2 months. The reason why it took this long was because of a predator that wasnt listed that was eating them, Scarlett Skunk cleaner shrimp do eat bergia. I call the berghia my silent assassins though, they r great and do their job very well.
