How many "Fish per Gallon" do you have?

Number of fish is really only half the equation...the other half is SIZE of the fish.
I think a slightly better question would be inches of fish per gallon.

In my 29 gal: 5 inches of fish
In my 16 gal: 1 inch of fish

I cover this in my first post. In addition I could never get people to add up how many inches their fish are... Nor could anyone accurately measure them.

Currently have 14 fish in a 300 gallon or .04. Several are fairly large ..... a hippo and naso tang both in the 7"/8" range, a yellow in the 5" range and a foxface about 7"/8".

No worries! It's a very legitimate and correct point that you made. I'm beginning to find that some people only keep gigantic tangs which is throwing a wrench into my conceptions of what is a "stocked" tank :tongue:

Mine comes out to 1 fish per 10 gallons. I only have two large fish though...Sailfin and Scopas.....the rest are small.

I did not read this closely enough!!!! I did fish inches per gallon... So I have .11 fish/gallon and about .26 fish inches/gallon. I posted the fish inches/gallon.

I have .2 fish/g. IMO it looks understocked and I am considering adding several more fish. My tank is SPS dominated and when I slack on feedings it lets me know. I have been watching a friends LPS while he gets his tank back in shape and trying to "dirty my water" a little more for their liking as they were in bad shape coming into my system and it has increased the color in my SPS frags (this system is ~4-5 months old) and growth has also increased..... so I figure if I toss a few more fish in for when the LPS come out and continue to feed more I will be happy and the tank will look fuller w/ more action and better colors.

IF you count the 20 or so clownfish babies still alive I am kinda off the chart right now LOL

Here is my seemingly empty tank despite having 10 or 11 fish (I forget lol):

According to tank calculators it is what would be considered a 70g, but it held 52g (which is what I used for this) of actual water before spilling into the overflow & sump.

2 Fish with a total of 5" combined, in a 26g. Not sure of exact water volume but its at least 20-23g

.10 fish per gallon, to me, my tank is not "busy" enough. I plan to at least double the number of fish this year. ( mostly small active fish, put down that bat!)

If I don't feed my fish heavily and my coral twice a week my sps fade and start getting burnt tips. Keep my alk at 7.8-8.1 so I'm assuming sps need more to eat then some people think, at least in my system.

If I feed to much red starts to go away and everybody starts turning green.

Yeah I feed 2-3x daily fairly generous amounts IMO... but I also vodka + Vinegar dose and run a skimmer rated for 3-4.5 times my tank size so it doesn't take alot for the waste from my large feedings to go buh bye either LOL
