How many tangs?

In my 6 foot tank I have 3 Yellows, a Purple, a Gem, a Kole and a White Tail Bristletooth. All medium size and all of them get along.

Started with the Purple. Added a yellow, the purple picked on it for a bit. Then they were best buds. Then added the White Tail, they totally ignored it. Added the next Yellow and Kole Tang together. The new yellow got and still gets chased a bit but pops right back out of the rocks after the chase to join the pack. The last one added also a yellow was totally ignored by everyone.

The Kole and White tail get along just fine too. , I think the White Tail was annoyed for a while because the Kole followed it around like they were supposed to be a “school” and the White tail was kind of a loner.
You got quite the line up!

What I would do, for a 5 footer and tangs:

Your Scopas.
Pick a Ctenocheatus that's your favorite. White tail is a showstopper.
Scratch the 'yellow' itch with a foxface, one spot or regular.

Wait until you have the new tank, then add both at once.

Here’s the whole gang in one shot.

Thank you! I think I will go with your method.

Wym? I’m lost? Lol
If you go to Biota's website you will see almost nothing available, i think they have asfur angels maybe 2 or 3 other smaller species but no tangs.

I believe they partnered with POMA labs to supplement their inventory. (POMA does blueline angels)

The last yellow tangs i saw were like $500.00 for half dollar sized fish. what i mean is good luck finding them these days

Ohhh that’s such a shame

Hello! I currently have a 60g cube 24x24x24. I have a smaller sized Scopas tang but he is growing like a weed! I plan to upgrade to a 100 gallon 60x28x14. Essentially a 2 foot to a 5 foot upgrade.

I do want at least another tang, preferably a yellow tang, but I want to be a responsible tang owner. How should I go about this.

Thank you!
Is the 14" the height? If so I would reconsider... I would also reconsider if that's the depth. Not a lot of room for rockscape in either scenario!

They are in the same family… wouldnt do it. I have a purple and he is kind of a butthole. Ive got a 6 foot 125 and have a juv blue tang, adult purple tang, and a juv bristletooth tang. The three of them are good together… would not add a 4th at all if that helps! The biggest will be the blue tang, but he was a rescue and has some stuff with him so I dont think he will grow the full 12 inches. I would probably do 2 in a 5 foot and stick with the smaller tangs to add to the scopas. Like any of the bristletooth tangs for example. They are very cool! I just would avoid a yellow, purple, or gem with an established scopas, could be an issue unless you add them to the upgrade at the same exact time. Yellow is more mellow than the other two so might work if you can find a yellow!!

To clarify we added some Poma labs angelfish to our site because Matt is also located in Florida and we love supporting other companies that also do amazing breeding, the same reason why we also sell Bali Aquarich fish and other breeders. Internally we've announced around 10 new species the past 3 months.

We also almost always have our mandarins, tons of goby species, clams, corals, rabbitfish, damsels, and many of our other fish in stock all the time.

We send out emails to all the customers on the "notify me" list for every yellow tang batch unfortunately it's usually just a few hundred tang for a few thousand customers but we're chipping away at it while also increasing our production at our Hawaii facility. I'm hoping by mid summer you'll see the yellow tang regularly at our $165 price. We've never had them at $500 or anywhere near that.
