How much coral can you get for $100

Hey, I was wondering... how much coral can I get from a local hobbyist for $100? I did just that and got 4 frags for $100 from a user on my local forum Manhattan Reefs. How much can you guys get for that price where you live? This could be very eye opening, since not many people talk about price when it comes to buying coral...

For $100 I usually walk away with about 8 pieces. Around 5-6 if I get a torch or scoly or something. Usually I’m getting clams, softies, zoas, sps. I’m in Houston!

It depends on what and who I’m dealing with. But I would say an average of 4 frags. And some people I could easily get 8 frags from.

Im in central east coast of Florida.

Probably would help for people to list that.

I think it's really dependent on what type of coral you are buying..at my LFS you can go to the straight frag section and it's like 3 for $50...something like that. Denver, CO here. I've seen local hobbyist through clubs are way more friendly than that.

Not an option for me. 5 minutes from Yellowstone, 5 hours from Salt Lake City. I might trade a hotel room for frags though.

I trade the majority of my frags to my local reefclub members for $10 a frag. Many of them trade frags for the same to me.

Depending on whom you do business with here in Orlando,you can walk away with a good amount.

If you are locals and just converse with people around here,they are willing to work with you.

Back in the day,I would walk into LRO or TSA and talk for hours and would work up amazing deals. I would talk so long,my now wife would just drop me off and go hang out with her friends lol.

At my lfs, the cheap coral section is $20 a piece. So that adds up to 5 corals. This is in Tennessee btw

Here in Nashville there's only two options and neither will give you much for that. Personally I would change the question to not how much but rather simply what. I would rather have a single frag with 3 polyps of something mind blowing then a 20 pound chunk of figi covered with star polyps. Just my 2 cents.

Locally that'd only be 2-3 corals. But I buy online and wait for sales so I've gotten 8-10 frags for the same amount a few times.
