How much flow are y'all running through your tanks ?

I'm not talking about return pumps. Power heads only.

It would be helpful to mention what kind of tank you have. Mixed, sps, lps, softie, ect ect.

I'm currently running 100 gph. Mixed reef with a bit of emphasis on sps. Just never seems like enough

I'm running about 3200 gph via 2 gyre xf330 on a 80 gal 24x24x32" "almost cube" for only zoa and paly.

And around 500-800 gph, depending on time of day, on my 5 gallon pico via hygger dc controllable power head also only paly/zoa

100 gph as in all my pumps added up and divided by my water volume.
 
that would be enough if you have a 10-20 gallon tank. I have 4 larger Tunzes on my 300 gallon plus my return pump at an estimated 1500 gph. 2 6095 at 2500 gph each & 2 6105s at 3434 gph each. For a total of approximately 13200 gph or 44 times tank volume. Most people would consider this on the low side for SPS, which I have very little of. My anemones are very happy. As are my soft corals. Leathers and LPS.

What I means was 100 X turnover
 
I have a mixed reef with many SPS. I’m having about 94-100x flow turnover rate in my 75g. My corals are happy, even my anemones with that high flow.
 
Mine averages at ~60x per hour depending on where it is in the schedule. No SPS yet though. Nem seems to be doing well in a heavier flow area as well
 
Mostly sps but maybe 10% lps. Standard 4x2x2 120.
2 tunze 6095's @ 100% alternating every 10 seconds on back wall.
2 6105's on each side with wide flow @ 100% continuous flow.
Around 9000 gph at any givin time.

They rarely are at full, but at full that would be 4000gph or roughly 32 times volume per hour. If I had four more gyres crammed in there to almost get to 100x per hour, I think a small canoe would capsize if I could get it into the tank. I mean, what on earth does 100 times volume look like?

Mine is around 90x.
The flow is different with powerheads.
All mine are wide flow so it spreads the flow out and is not point directed.
Never ran gyres as their flow is laminar from what I understand, which is quite different from a powerhead.

If you run both gyres full blast at 100% you are pushing 8k gph.
Again the gyres flow is different. A powerhead you can aim the flow around the tank.
 
About 85x in a 26g softy tank between 2 alternating pumps.
 
I run two jebao sow4 in my Nuvo 20 at 100% which gives me 110x turnover. I’m thinking for sps I might need slightly more flow.


My Euphyllia and soft corals actually like it really well unless I miss direct the powerheads and then it’s no good.
 
Oh yeah. I guess I read the specs wrong. At 8000, I would be at about 64x volume. While I am rarely at full, adding in return pump turnover, a dumb Penguin filter I cannot get myself to part from, and a smidge from the protein skimmer (hob), I probably do reach 64X.

BRS recommends 20-40??? Just checked. That seems low.
 
Sorry but I'm confused, I know I'm reasonably new to the hobby, what is the definition of tank turn over, it may be a stupid question but to me tank turn over is the volume of water and speed returned from the sump and drained back in. Power heads just push or pull water in display tank to create current. I think I still have to get used to the terminology.

Their is 2 turnovers.
1 how much flows through your sump.
2 how much flow you turnover/move in your tank.
