Tell us how long you would spend doing fish tank related things on an average day...

And how about how often you clean, and do mantaince....

i usually spend an hour a day on my 29 gallon, checking everything out, feeding, changing my filter sock, scraping glass, inspecting my skimmer, and topping off with ro/di (should have a float valve by tuesday to set up a gravity fed ato.

i scrape every day, not a lot of build up in a day but enough to bug me. i top off everyday, i do a 5 gallon wc once a week, change filter socks everyday, clean my skimmer cup once a week,

i feed twice daily and target feed some of my corals everyday/every other day.

i do spends 1-2 hours a day just staring at my tank also

See, it is never spending an interupted hour-3 hours with the tank, it is spaced out into a billion pieces. I check on this, empty that, refill that, check on that, feed that. It all adds up, and I don't want to add it up. I spend a lot of time, too much time on my tank.

Water changes take me about 30-45 minutes depending on what I am doing (sometimes I just change water sometimes I suck stuff out of the tank as well). Right now I am doing this weekly.
Feeding the display takes about 15 minutes (although, I would say 25 altogether because of giving out nori sheets. This is a complicated task, don't ask.).
Dumping the skimmer cup and cleaning it takes about 5 minutes, I do this when needed.

Usually a few hours.. 1-2 for cleaning and basic maintenance.

Average day 15 minutes to clean glass, feed and top out ATO. Weekly MX - water change, skimmer cup, filter sock about 30 minutes.

Since i am ironing out the details of my newsetup i am spending at least an hour during the day and atleast 3-4 hours on the weekends.
hoping with better automation i can streamline things better. may be not!! i am just a newbie at this

I feel that my tanks does better without me messing or having my hands in the tank so much. I have gone a day or two without even looking at my tank, well besides feeding the fish. ATO only needs to be refilled every 5 days, 2-part solution refilled once a week, clean glass 1-2x a week, feed fish 1-2x daily, carbon/gfo once a month, and water change once a week.

Well let's see, I'd say myself I spend about 5 - 10 minutes doing maintenance things like glass cleaning and checking pumps. However my daughter sometimes does that stuff for me so I don't have to.

My wife on the other hand can spend a good hour pulling algaes and feeding. Sometimes this involved fragging (accidentally) as well which ends up being myself gluing later in the day.

I try not to think about the time I spend on my tank. Once I start calculating the time, it begins to feel like work. If it feels like work, I lose interest.

The stuff I need to do takes about an hour per week. I spend probably another 3-5 just doing 'stuff'.

Sometimes it's an hour and sometimes it's zero. But I at least look at it everyday. Normally it's when I get out of the shower, when I get home, and right before the actinics go off at night.

Well one is a seahorse tank so feeding is 3x daily, much more than the FOWLR which is once daily. My corals are in the pony tank too so feeding them 1-2 x per week. Clean the glass daily, water change every Sat. But I finally ran tubing to a pump in my mix barrel so that's nothing like doing bucket changes like I used to. Probably 20-30 minutes to water change both tanks. Mix the water the night before... So 10 minutes there. The rest of the time is spent just looking and "now now" ing. That's what we call it when I "mother" the tank constantly lol

I'm actually feeling a bit lucky that mine only eat live food... they've got a self sustaining food source which allows occasional out of town visits.

And I have a pet sitter for the dogs when I go out of town... Gonna get her over here and teach her how to feed the ponies. That will let me at least take weekend trips.
