How much would these be worth?

HEy SF ramsden, if you see the rics in the first pic get me a polyp or 2 as long as they are not over $25-$30 a piece. I will have cash on hand.....I can then pay pal you the cost and meet up with you sometime between now and when your available......IF not that's cool too, but that first ric is sweet....One of the things you have to be careful with their pics of rics is they take them when they are a bit stressed so the colors are more intense. There would bit a slight fading of color but would still be sweeter then what I can get locally and most places on line. I know Reefraft get a lot of rics out of Cuba.....

Yeah there prices out of control. I bet those rics will be priced at around $50 a piece AT LEAST. Not too mention the pics are taken under actinics only or 20k's w/ actinics....?

I was trying to figure that out myself. I didn't ask and he didn't tell me. I believe he gets a lot of his aussie acans from reefraft, however he is not getting any acans with this order, so that leads me to believe he is not getting these from reefraft. Also, went to check reefraft's site, and as of right now their site is empty... I should have asked, but he still probably wouldn't have told me.

yeah he gets them from Reefraft, i'm almost sure.....those zoa pics you posted are all aussie zoas...RR has a tank full of them...RR's grade AAA acan shipment is not in yet...prolly this week though.

Yea.. I know, but I am not a ric fan myself... Only have one, a yuma I believe its called (big and bright orange). If one of those catches my eye I may get one if the price is right... From what I just read on their thread, they will be bringing in 50 colonies of rics. Sounds crazy to me! You would spend a lot!

I have found if you just wait a week or until they get a new shipment the prices drop alot. You do run the risk of Marvin or Mucho coming in and buying them all but I have paid $15 a polyp on some things that never opened once I got them. I must say that Jeff (the owner) hooked me up big time when I told him this. Most stuff is priced very fair except the stuff that just came in because it gets hyped up. Overall, very happy with everything I have bought from there.

I am not fighting the crowd either. I will go in on Wednesday.

Those ric pics look highly PS'd and under actinics (maybe being taken under actinics makes them look PS'd?). Nice looking, but I'd like to see them under normal lighting...

Frag Pricing

It's sad, maybe It's my age. I remember a time when you bought frags of zoa colonies and groups of rics. You never just bought "one" polyp of anything, and especially for 30,40,or 50 dollars apiece. We should all revolt. Let them keep it all until theres so much they have to get rid of it or go out of business. Thats why I support guys like Elite reefs. At least he's trying to help change the industry, or help fellow reefers, whatever the end result is. Well like I said they take them when they are stressed so the colors are condensed, then add actinic and you get what you see......Those rics are not worth any more then $25-$30 a polyp any more then that is gouging in my opinion. I can get decent ones from certain people for $15 a polyp and locally for $25.....I wouldn't pay more then that for a Florida ric....

As far as rics go you can't take rock unless your in Haiti or Cuba anything in US waters is single polyps. So if you find a rock full of rics 100% that they are outside US waters. Most polyps that are sold singly are US water rics.....Much differant back in the day when you could get real florida live rock with corals and inverts growing right one it for $3 a pound......But hell that was 20 years ago....

Well I bought just one frag and it hasn't opened up yet (did a FW/Iodine dip). We'll see how it look. I must say the more time goes along, the less I want to buy from LFS and instead, work with fellow hobbiests....even if I never get anything "new" that most people haven't seen.

Hey Chris...

Was pretty disappointing that all the "good stuff" was gone already... I also dipped mine, and we will see how things look tomorrow. Probably have gone through a little stress I would imagine being shipped this morning and all. Hoping for the best... Of course I picked up some things, besides that one piece of SPS I already have pictured. I got 5 different zoo/paly frags, so we will see what happens huh? Will get pics if/when they open... Sorry though fellas, the ones I posted pics of in the beginning were already gone somehow...

Yep, me and Chris were both there... I actually got there at about 12:05, not sure when Chris got there but there was about 10-15 people already there by the time I got there... I believe the colonies of the ones I put pictures up of went for about 150-200... Something around there from what the owner told me

Yeah that was way too much hype for just a shipment of corals. I mean, Elite Reefs on here has what I consider unique pieces, and of course he sells them for $10!! However, when no other LFS around here (that I know of) gets in unique pieces, I guess it should be expected!!

You gotta get there at least a half hour before they open and just knock if it is locked. Dave or Jeff will let you in if they are there and you are holding a hand full of money or credit cards. I feel weird doing this but it is the only way you will get the "good" stuff. I didn't go today but will stop by this week sometime. I know where most of the zoas and palys go that are sold before they even open but I am sworn to secrecy. Let's just say one of the biggest zoa collectors in Michigan must have Jeff's cell number.

Yeah I dont like the over hyper they are doing to get people in there I think it is pretty ridiculous that they tell you guys to show up at a given time then have of the stuff is already gone. I havent been there in a long time and there is a good reason for it. Not to say they dont get good stuff in but... you know...
