How often do y'all do water changes?

I get NSW when I go out on my boat here in Miami. Sometimes I collect right over the offshore reefs, turquoise colored waters. I let it sit in the house for 1 day and use it. Sometimes I collect my water in one of our cleanest ocean going waterways, only on high tide though. The trucks that delivers NSW to LFS's collects in this same place. No UV sterilization. Never had a problem with fish or corals getting sick, in 19 yrs.

That's Great!!

I mix the water on Friday and do a water change every Saturday. It really is a huge difference when you have a set schedule of weekly changes. 5 gallons on a 40 gallon.

I change about 6 to 7 gallons a week not more or less as I dose a carbon source and this helps with low po4 and nitrate. Changing water is a vital in keeping Sps tanks with heavy loads of fish and corals. Now the question should be what salt should I use and to/DI water is another question that most don't ask. With all the money and time we spend on out Sps spending a few extra dollars on good quality salt mix and ro membranes are most often over looked.

I do water changes automatically with a dual head Reef Filler pump on a timer.

It changes water for many 15 minute periods each day and night, amounting to a total of about 1% daily.

With that method, I do not need to match anything or even heat the new salt water. :)

I have a 200gal system, do a 2.5gal daily water change with a dual head stenner pump. The pump runs several times a day to slowly change out 2.5gal.

Like Randy, I dont need to match anything since its such a small daily water change.

3.5 to 4g every 7-10 days on my 20g. I never it it get past 14 days and if I do, I'll do two 3.5g WCs a couple days apart.

On my broodstock system I do 15G every week or 2, only around a 50G system. On my growout tanks, since they are overstocked with hundreds of growing fish and heavily fed, I do roughly 30G every week. It's probably a 75G system.

I used to do 5 gal a week on my 29 gal with 20 gal sump, but I've recently started doing two 5 gal changes a week. I do like the 1 gal a day thing though. I might try that if I can get another large container and have salt water already mixed and ready.
