How often do you buy new corals (or clams, nems, or some other invert)? Is it once in a while? Once every few months? Once a month? Week? MORE!? What drives your coral shopping?

I normally buy weekly to every 2 weeks. All depends on what I’m looking for, sales, or if I find a crazy deal for cheap even if I have it I’ll grab it normally. For example last week I found a decent deal on flaming Mohicans which are rare so I bought them. You never know what life is gonna give you.

Before when I worked at a fish store on the weekends, it was biweekly. Now, I have anew tank I want to get established and the current coral thriving before I start adding more.

I take a weekly fish store trip just for the kicks and i have friends who work there. End up getting coral about 25 percent of the time

Ok, I admit it. I have been on a major coral buying binge. From local reefers, sellers on the forum, RAP, Battlecorals...I'm mostly full now though, except saving spots for a few select pieces, so I guess I need to stop.
Well, I am thinking of setting up a 50g cube I have in the garage and moving my LPS out of my big tank, so maybe I don't need to stop.

In all seriousness, I had some cash and decided to take the opportunity to finish filling out the tank. Now the wife keeps asking can we get more fish soon? Can only QT so fast.

Only wend I see something that I truly fancy and can afford it, so not a specific time set to buy.

I usually try to stay every 6 weeks to a few months. I have found reward lately in seeing things grow out rather than adding so much new. It also makes me a little nervous, even with a coral QT tank, that any new addition might bring unexpected problems.

I barter with some LRS , for repairs to their central air, chillers, reachin coolers......
So for now every week,

If there is a sale - like this weekends live sale - then I’ll take the opportunity to buy a bunch. That’s kinda how it goes for me - if there is a sale I’m in. Same goes when a member posts up some for sale - they are usually much better deals and larger frags.

I get something new every week. I work right next to about 20 LFS. So I’m in everyday checking new things out, talking to staff and others. When I see something that’s nice or a deal, I buy. Just bought a trumpet yesterday. Going back to get an urchin I was on the fence about yesterday.

Not often enough. But I have no local vendors so it makes it difficult.
