Honestly pretty surprised at how young this group is, everyone from this hobby I've met in person is quite a bit older.

I'm quite happy there is a younger crowd in the hobby. The hobby would be doomed if there wasn't and would stagnate. But yeah like you IRL most people I've met in the hobby are in their 40's and 50's.

I got my clownfish about 10 years ago and they are still around today. My parents never took part in the hobby other than some "sponsoring"

True that the "young" people in this community are hard to find...
If i had to take a guess why, I'd say because you need a lot of knowledge and money to succeed lol

I stopped counting after 25. Always have to think what year it is. 37 now.

You can reef in the later years. Of course it'd be best to keep it small. There's plenty of other things I'd like to do on my later years than just reef.

LOL yeah I know. But definitely have been living the grown up life for some time. It certainly feels like 20 years nearly flashed in a second. I think of what's changed in the world & another 20 will be gone quickly. I just come to the realization that life is short. It's cheesy, but keep living it the fullest.

36 and been in the hobby since I was 24! It sucks to now have to click the 30-40 category, when I can vividly remember clicking the 20-30 on prior polls like this, lol

Just goes to show how addictive this hobby is.

I have been playing with all kinds of aquariums and ponds since I was 13. I can still remember taking home fish bags on the bus before I had a car.
