No you can not. This is made to be used as one of the main ingredient of the 3 part component system. Its not a complete salt.

This is correct, Reef Mineral Salt does not have Sodium or Chloride in it.

No. There is no need to use Reef Mineral Salt if you are using Calcium reactor.

Recently discovered this thread. I have a 5g Pico with some sexy shrimp, pom pom crab and mostly lps corals (zoas, hammers, Duncan etc). I work away from home 2 weeks at a time and water changes are done once I'm home.

I recently made the switch from rc to aquaforest probio salt. I also purchased the reef mineral salt as a recommendation from my lfs to dose into my tank to maintain trace elements while I'm away at work to maintain consistent levels.

All info I'm finding online is using this with the balling method but can't find any info without.

Will this raise salinity? As this is nacl free I'm sure it doesn't but just want to make absolutely sure of it.

Is it just trace minerals or is it an all in one product that also contains alkalinity, calcium and magnesium as well?

Should I mix an amount in with my prepared probio water change salt water?

And if dosing manually in between water changes to main consistent levels what are the dosing and mixing instructions if this product can be ran independently?
I'm sure you don't mix it and dose a random amount and test your levels such as a guess age check method. I'm looking for an exact formula such as brs would provide when dosing their products.
Ex- x amount of mls per gallon to raise alk by 1 etc.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thx

This product is not dedicated to increase traces, to increase KH, Ca or salinity.
This product should be used with Calcium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate to keep ionic balance.

Hi, if you choose to use Reef Minerals, you need to dose this in addition to Alk and Calcium. It should not be dosed on its own. Once you have your Alk and Calcium levels, Reef Minerals should be dosed in the same quantity as you are dosing Alk and Calcium.

Not indivually anymore. I was on the AF123 program hence I have the mineral salt. Now I've switched over a CaRX and left overs. I can use the other products to made tank adjustments, but can't find a use for the salt. Feels like such a waste. =)

I loved AF123 by the way. Only reason I switched off is I was going through so much for my demand, but we'll see how the CaRX performs compared to AF123.

Component 3+ contains Reef Mineral Salt also that's why there is no need to buy it additionaly.
If you are running CaRX - there is no need to dose Reef Mineral Salt because you don't dose chloride and bicarbonate.

Very complicated but I love the results. So let me see if I've got this right. I have been dosing component 1,2,3 for over a year. I buy the premixed all ready to go purple jugs. I use Tropic M for my salt replenishment of one gallon a day turn over. One gallon out, one gallon in. Since I use the premixed bottles I have no need for AF mineral salt correct? If I choose to start mixing my own component 1,2,3 then I would need the AF mineral salt to properly mix up solution, correct?
Additionally as I monitor my ALK level if it starts to go down I then need to increase all of the component 1,2,3 levels to achieve proper ALK level correct? And my final question does the use of a GFO lower ALK level? I think the answer to all of these is yes. I tried reaching AF in email concerning these questions but you'all keep sending me the tutorial videos to watch which to be honest is more like attending a chemistry class

I just want to successfully raise corals not acquire a PHD in chemistry, again love the results I'm seeing.

Component 1+2+3+ premixed contains Reef Mineral Salt. If you would like to mix your own you need to add Reef Mineral Salt.
I am not sure but video is very clear: If your ALK drop faster than other parameters you should add just KH using for example KH Plus. Answer also is here: GFO should not lower KH.

The interesting part of the coral hobby is we all get lessons in chemistry along the way. Almost unavoidable as we all tinker with elements, minerals, metals, etc. lol You might be able to get away with little less chemistry with fish-only, but put your lab coat on! =)

AF123 balling was great for me while I was on it. Just got more demanding as my tank needs were beyond the economics of buying ready to go premix and eventually time demand of mixing large batches.

Does Reef Mineral salt contain magnesium @Aquaforest? How much? Is the magnesium content entirely added with the Mg supplement for part 3?

Is there a reason why Mg supplement is mixed specifically on part 3?

It is a separate but you can add it to the mineral salt so when you dose, it doses magnesium as well as mineral salt. This is how I have it so I dose Mineral Salt with Magnesium at the same levels as Calcium and Alkalinity. Here is their Magnesium supplement -
