Hi ,
I tried to keep anemones for my maroon clown but they keep on moving and finally die . Any help ?

they will move around until they are happy, sometimes they stay put for years, then you come home to find it shredded in your new maxi-jet.
Definatly make sure your tank peramiters are in check before looking for one, and make sure you look carefully before you buy, some of the ones you find in stors have tears, stress, and are sick before you ever get them

I have 92 bow front tank
lighting .....2 radion lights ,1 marine-land reef capable 36 inch
protein skimmer in sump , two koralia pump
salinity.....1.023
carbonate hardness ......12 dKH
Calcium ;.......460mg/L
Phosphate.......25ppm/L
Nitrate........0.0 mg/L
Ammonia.....0.6mg/l
PH.....8.5
I change water 40% every two week sometimes three week .My corals are not very happy , they are not growing ,I have one yellow tang , sail fish tang , one maroon clown , one queen angel , one clam , though fishes are healthy and are there for more than a year. I never had coralline growing in my tank I changed my lights from T5s to radions two month ago . Any helpful suggestion ?

are you running any carbon?
I know a lot of people differ here, but I quit doing so much water changes and let things balance out a little, then everything started growing, less worry, more enjoyment

skimmer is great, may consider a filter sock, or mesh bag in the sump with actived carbon, change out once a month, it helps asorb toxins. cheap.
one thing I ran into years ago, was copper in my city water supply, are you using ro-di water for your top off water and the water you use for your salt mix?

A Maroon Clown will sometimes literally love their anemones to death. I had one that I finally had to give away so I could keep nems...lol Also, you need to get your ammonia to ZERO. Ammonia will kill everything if left unchecked. I see you have two Koralia pumps....are these actual pumps for return and skimmer or are these power heads for flow in your DT?

You shouldn't have any ammonia readings, that could have been a major cause -- how long has your tank been set up?
Also, the queen angel could have been picking at it.
Your tank is overstocked, which could be causing your water parameter issues.
Is your phosphate 0.25 or 25?

How big was the anemone? How big is the clown? For a maroon the anemone should be at least 3 times the size of the clown, maroon can "love" anemones to death.

I am using tap water ....no ro-di. Is it important to use ro -di

koralia pumps are for flow only ......I have one pump in sump for return and protien skimmer has on pump in the sump too ...

Phospate is 0.25 , clown fish is about 6 inch and bubble tip anemone is double the size I just got a new one...tank is being setup for one year .....

Clean water is Very important for anemones. As is light and current. So, I would say, yes the use of tap water is probably a big problem.

The tap water could very well be the cause of your phosphate issues.

The bigger concern is why you are still getting ammonia readings -- which are deadly to an anemone.

A 6" maroon is going to need a huge anemone, which could add to your already existing ammonia issues -- really need to get that under control.

+1 with ro-di, I bet once you switch a lot of your issues will fade with time. But until you get the ammonia under control and switch to ro-di I wouldn't add any more nems as likely they will succumb to the same issues your previous ones did.

Good luck!

i have seen maroon clowns be super aggressive with their nems once theyve hosted. they bash into them and stress them out, making them move, or look like a gaped butthole
