How to kill a monti without altering water chemistry?

Hi All - I'm trying to kill off a red monti that I am unable to remove due to it's placement. I'm tired of breaking it off and scraping as it tries to grow upwards. I can barely even give away frags of it, mostly ends up in the trash, so I just want to kill it.

Any suggestions besides kalk paste? I don't want to alter my water chemistry since my #'s are solid now.

Any way to shade it or cover it without shading other corals?

Depending on size, 2 part epoxy works to smother them.

I actually just rid myself of a red plating monti by hammering it off the rock, then covering any remaining encrusted parts with 2 part epoxy. Been 6 months now and don't see any coming back......Yet!

Put a rock or piece of acrylic over it and it die off in the shade.

It's actually pretty close to the sandbed, that's why it keeps growing upwards after plating out to the glass. See pic.

I was thinking of epoxy, but was worried that much epoxy might cause issues. You had no problems with your water?

Not sure how to get a piece of acrylic there, but I like what you're thinking. I wonder if I can just put a lot of sand on it.

Get some Monti nudis lol, seriously though, cut as much back as you can and cover the rest with epoxy.

That may work anything to shade it. flow might blow sand off. I was just thinking acrylic cut the size of Monti and put some coral glue on acrylic to hold until it does.

I safely used this to keep some rocks connected, would work as a cover after you frag that off to the base.
Kneaded into a pancake would then smother it and you can attach something to the top immediately if you wanted.

I am going to give this a shot - I have the grey epoxy and it would be ugly, but this seems to look a lot better. Thanks.

Get one of those sticks the lfs uses to pick a frag. Then jab the monti till breaks off, sell for a coral you want lol

JB water weld is way cheaper and can be found at walmart or HD. Albeit it is white as opposed to pink like the coralline stuff.

Darn. Bummer you cant remove it. I would like to take if off your hands.

I used to have the monti below. When I switched from MH to LED's, I lost it. Could you somehow blast light at it?

Only issue I had with about 4 tubes of JB water weld, had to turn my skimmer off for a couple days. Just kept overflowing, but most skimmers do that with any amount of epoxy used.

I been using a tong and scraping as it grow upwards, but now I'm going to just kill it all. Tired of dealing with it.

Any blasting would harm my other corals, it is lower than the others off to the side.

Kalk paste isn’t going to alter your chem much, if any. I use it to kill huge patches of palys and alk is the same. Don’t worry about it and overthink it. Break off as much as you can and then Kalk the rest.
