Yeah, the OP has a 20G. So it's probably not necessary at this time to use these medias, if ever in that size tank.

If you start to have issues with algae from the rocks, let us know. There are other methods to remove it as this wouldn't be a permanent problem, needing a permanent solution.

Not always, they're pretty clean. I use them, but i do acid wash them prior in vinegar.

Dont start adding these binders unless you need them.

In that small tank, a great mantinance routine, water changes, and proper bio load should be sufficient.

If its not, then you may look into and research the proper media.

Don't want to strip your water.
